Greetings! Our lifestyles bring us good and not so good results. So from time to time it is good to analyze their repercussions and adjust what we can to improve them. Today I will tell you about an adjustment I had to make recently, why I did it and how I went about it. Finally, how I feel about having it in my lifestyle: blue filter glasses. 🤓

> ¡Saludos! Nuestros estilos de vida nos traen resultados buenos y otros no tan buenos. Así que de vez en cuando es bueno analizar sus repercusiones y ajustar lo que se pueda para mejorarlos. Hoy les hablaré de un ajuste que debí hacer recientemente, porqué lo hice y cómo lo llevé a cabo. Finalmente, cómo me siento al tenerlo dentro de mi estilo de vida: lentes con filtro azul. 🤓

###### WHY WEAR GLASSES

I have been working with computers since I was a teenager. First, I worked as a freelance transcriptionist at home, then as an administrative assistant while I was studying, and finally as a professional. That meant being in front of a monitor frequently. And like many, the advancement of technology has made us use our smartphones on a daily basis. So there is a lot of artificial light reaching our eyes. 🔵👀

A few months ago I started noticing that I had in my field of vision a spot in the middle. I would close my eyes and it was like I had a light bulb in front of me. That started to worry me, so I tried to reduce the time in front of the monitor. However, it is very difficult, because of the secular activities and inside the blockchain. I knew I had to take action.

That's why I decided to buy some glasses that would protect me before I developed something worse. I started to ask some acquaintances about the opticians they recommended, and that way I could look for a quote in different places than the ones I already knew and compare prices, delivery dates, materials, etc.📝

###### POR QUÉ USAR LENTES

Desde mi adolescencia vengo trabajando con computadoras. Primero, trabajé por mi cuenta con transcripciones en mi casa, luego de asistente administrativo a la vez que estudiaba, y finalmente ejerciendo mi profesión. Eso implicó estar frente a un monitor con frecuencia. Y como muchos, el avance de la tecnología nos ha hecho usar a diario nuestros teléfonos inteligentes. Así que hay mucha luz artificial que llega a nuestros ojos. 🔵👀

Hace unos meses empecé a notar que tenía en mi campo visual una mancha en el medio. Cerraba los ojos y era como si tuviera un bombillo en el frente. Eso empezó a preocuparme, y por eso trataba de disminuir el tiempo frente al monitor. Sin embargo, es muy difícil, por las actividades seglares y dentro de la blockchain. Supe que tenía que tomar medidas.

Es por eso que decidí comprar unos lentes que me protegieran antes de que desarrollara algo peor. Empecé a preguntar a algunos conocidos sobre las ópticas que me recomendaban, y de esa forma buscar presupuesto en lugares diferentes a los que ya conocía y así comparar precios, fechas de entrega, materiales, etc. 📝

###### THE BRIEF INVESTIGATION

In that inquiry I discovered that "blue filter" lenses were being used, or at least that's what some people call them. These protect the eyes precisely from the blue light emanating from our monitors, TVs, phone screens, LED bulbs, etc. This was what I needed! 💪 And it was even better to see that it was already commonplace in opticians' shops. 

On a visit to the city I was able to start my research and found out from three opticians what they offered. After a few days, a friend suggested I go to one where he knew some of the staff. Besides, one of his relatives had recently gone there to buy some for his daughter and I liked the attention, the result and the delivery times. So on my next trip I went there directly.🏃

###### LA BREVE INVESTIGACIÓN

En esa averiguación descubrí que se estaban usando los lentes con "filtro azul", o al menos así los llaman algunos. Estos protegen los ojos precisamente de la luz azul que emanan de nuestros monitores, televisores, pantallas de teléfono, bombillos led, etc. ¡Esto era lo que yo necesitaba!💪 Y fue mejor aún ver de que era algo común y corriente ya en las ópticas. 

En una visita a la ciudad pude empezar mi investigación y averigüé en tres ópticas lo que ofrecían. Al cabo de unos pocos días, un amigo me sugirió ir a una donde él conocía a parte del personal. Además, uno de sus familiares había ido recientemente para comprar unos para su hija y me gustó la atención, el resultado y los tiempos de entrega. Así que en mi próximo viaje acudí a esa óptica directamente.🏃

###### MY VISIT TO THE OPTICIAN'S

When I walked in, the girl my friend knew was at the counter. After introducing myself, I explained to her that I didn't want to spend a lot of money on very sophisticated frames, of well-known brands or delicate materials. I said something like: *"I want some simple frames, which are not very expensive, but which protect the glass that will carry the anti-reflective and blue filter. It doesn't matter if they are ugly👎, or grandfatherly👴. Those are for use in my house, they are not for going out in the street. No one will see me with them."*😎

That girl probably doesn't hear those requests that often. In fact, she responded to me something like: *"Sir, don't say that. It's not like you're going to look older either."* I insisted, while keeping my smile. Then, pointing to a small piece of furniture on top of the counter, he said: *"Well, we have these pasta frames on sale for $5"*.😮 Those were the ones I sized up. I had a friend with me and he took the picture I just showed you above. 👆

They didn't look so bad to me, just like they did to the girl, my friend and my wife, that I sent her the photo via WhatsApp. After thinking about it for a few minutes, I told her I would take them. Even so, she told me that if I wanted to change the color, that there were some blue ones that I might like. I measured them and yes, I liked them. She told me: *"With black glasses you look stiffer in the face. With these blue ones you look more cheerful"*😊 And I said: *"What? Really? Then I'll go for the black frame, so they'll see me more serious over there"* 😬. But well, it was just to smile a little, so they would forget that it was almost lunch time and they still had to wait on me. In the end, I chose the blue frame, not because I wanted to look like the girl said, but because I like the color blue. 👌

The lenses with blue filter and anti-reflection would cost $30, plus the frame, so the whole job would cost $35. Besides, because I was my friend's referral, they gave me a discount. How about that? 😁Not bad. I said, "You bet! Check it out! I immediately paid and had the exam done. I looked them up in a couple of days.

###### MI VISITA EN LA ÓPTICA

El entrar, justamente estaba en el mostrador la muchacha que mi amigo conocía. Luego de presentarme, le expliqué de que no quería gastar mucho dinero en monturas muy sofisticadas, de marcas reconocidas o materiales delicados. Le dije algo como: *"Quiero unas monturas sencillas, que no sean muy costosas, pero que protejan el cristal que llevará el antirreflejo y filtro azul. No importa que sean feas👎, o de abuelitos👴. Esos son para usarlos en mi casa, no son para salir a la calle. Nadie me va a ver con ellos😎".*

Probablemente esa muchacha no escuche esos requerimientos tan frecuentemente. De hecho, me respondió algo así como: *"Señor, no diga eso. Tampoco es que se va a ver como alguien más mayor"*. Yo le insistí, aunque conservando mi sonrisa. Entonces, señalando un pequeño mueble encima del mostrador me dijo: *"Bueno, tenemos éstas monturas de pasta en oferta en $5"*.😮 Esos fue los que me medí. Me acompañaba un amigo y me tomó la foto que les acabo de mostrar arriba. 👆

No me parecieron tan malos, igual que a la muchacha, a mi amigo y a mi esposa, que le hice llegar la foto por WhatsApp. Luego de pensarlo unos minutos, le dije que me los llevaría. Aún así, ella me dijo que si deseaba cambiar el color, que habían unos azules que podrían gustarme. Me los medí y sí, me gustaron. Ella me dijo: *"Con los lentes negros se le ve el rostro más rígido. Con éstos azules se ve más alegre".*😊 Y yo: *¡¿Qué?! ¿En serio? Entonces me voy por la montura negra, para que me vean más serio por ahí".*😬 Pero bueno, fue sólo para sonreír un poco, y así olvidaran allí que ya casi era hora de almorzar y debían aún atenderme. A la final, elegí la montura azul, y no porque quería verme como la muchacha decía, sino porque me gusta el color azul. 👌

Los cristales con filtro azul y antirreflejo costarían $30, más la montura, quedaría todo el trabajo en $35. No me pareció tan caro. Además, por ser referido de mi amigo, me dieron un descuento. ¿Qué tal? 😁Nada despreciable. Dije: ¡Ejecútese! ¡Aprobado! Inmediatamente pagué y me hicieron el examen. Los busqué en un par de días.

###### MY LIFESTYLE WITH GLASSES

Since the day I got the glasses I have been wearing them. I like that they are lightweight. Also, they have a metallic structure inside the paste that makes them more resistant. I see the blue reflection they have and I really like it. I was starting to see them on other people, and I didn't know why they caught my attention. Now I understand better why. As the lenses are large, you can still have a wide field of view with the formulas, which are not so high: 0.50 x 90° and 0.25 x 30°. What does that mean? I really don't know.🤷‍♂ What I do know is that I still have good eyesight, and that I am wearing them only to protect myself from light from electronic devices, not because I need to see better. 

I still maintain the idea of wearing them only at home. I don't wear them for biking or running errands. In fact, many people don't know I wear glasses for that. However, a few photos have slipped out to me on WhatsApp statuses wearing them,🤦‍♂ and that's how some people have been shocked: *You wear glasses?!"* And there I start explaining to them. And, fortunately, the spot in my visual field has almost completely disappeared, and that also makes me happy.🎉

I feel like it's been a great investment. I have less eyestrain, I feel my eyes are more protected, and at home I look like I know all of life's important and momentous questions.🤣

###### MI ESTILO DE VIDA CON LENTES

Desde el día que me entregaron los lentes los estoy usando. Me gusta que son livianos. Además, tienen una estructura metálica dentro de la pasta que los hace más resistente. Veo el reflejo azul que tienen y me gusta mucho. Y es que ya los empezaba a ver en otras personas, y no sabía por qué me llamaban más la atención. Ahora entiendo mejor por qué. Como los cristales son grandes, puede tener igual un campo de visión amplio con las formulas, que no son tan altas: 0.50 x 90° y 0.25 x 30°. ¿Qué significa eso? La verdad es que no sé.🤷‍♂ Lo que sí sé es que aún conservo buena vista, y que los estoy usando sólo para protegerme de la luz de los aparatos electrónicos, no porque necesite ver mejor. 

Aún mantengo la idea de usarlos sólo en casa. No los uso para andar en bicicleta o salir a hacer diligencias. De hecho, muchos no saben que uso lentes para eso. Sin embargo, se me han escapado algunas fotos en los estados de WhatsApp usándolos,🤦‍♂ y es como algunos se han impactado: *¡¿Tú usas lentes?!"* Y allí empiezo a explicarles. Y, afortunadamente, la mancha en mi campo visual ha desaparecido casi en su totalidad, y eso también me contenta.🎉

Siento que ha sido una magnífica inversión. Tengo menos fatiga visual, creo que mis ojos están más protegidos, y en casa tengo la apariencia de que me sé todas las preguntas importantes y trascendentales de la vida. 🤣

As a conclusion, I can suggest that whatever you plan to do for your visual, general and even mental health, do not hesitate to make these excellent investments! 🤑 It is better to make these preventive adjustments than when we have to do it already in a corrective way.
