My Love/Hate Relationship With Steemit.com (and some people I encountered)
![image.png](https://images.hive.blog/DQmV1vGHKFfbL8SF5hDib4XMvxs9V55A4CfjQHVvJszUrsh/image.png)

I joined Steemit back in 2017. YouTube updated its monetization rules. (to the 10k views rule)

I heard about Steemit on a site called Ong.social.

I joined and was accepted after 24 hours.

I share my photography, YouTube videos, and blog posts.

I started to like the site and enjoyed it better than on YouTube.

Then in 2018, I was subject to downvote abuse. I did nothing wrong. If I did no one bothered to tell me what I did wrong so I can fix my mistake.

Then in 2019 a certain user on the site purposefully took me out of context (at least it seemed that way) and tried making me the bad guy when I asked people how much have their earnings dropped after Steemit's HF. All it was meant to be an innocent poll to see how minnows were affected. I am/was a minnow at the time. He took it as not wanting to work for my rewards. How do you conclude that simply asking people how much their payout changed and that just because a post doesn't get loads of money doesn't mean it's poor content

I have trouble filtering out my thoughts on a dime.

My post wasn't intended to sound like they 'thought' it was.
Had they given me a chance I would have asked people why did they like the changes and why? (and if they didn't that's ok) I am a small creator so my post will be geared towards smaller creators since their rewards were cut!
Steemit's HF said posted that get less than 20 Steem get fewer rewards. Which told me that posts under that value are poor which is false.

Another person drew their own conclusions when I made posts about autism. I made a post about autism not stopping at 18 because a lot of people are under that impression. What is their comment? 'I need to learn to adapt.' It is clear they did not even bother to read the blog but got mad when I quietly called them out on it. I used Dlike to share my blog posts and put a short description of what the article is about. I could not use a few lines from the blog because DL added a plagiarism filter and it will not allow the post to go through if the words from the original website look too similar in the description. Basically, I am explaining the reality debunking their 'conclusion.'
I checked my analytics on my blog and no clicks were recorded from Steemit.

Had they clicked in the link I circled, they would have been taken to the original website.
SC already thought I was stealing content. Why would I post the full article on Steemit AND my website and give them another reason to get on my case?

They thought the description was my post when I used a Dapp called Dlike which allows you to share content from a website that you found useful and/or content from your own blog.

This same person got ANGRY at me when I made a poll about what holidays the Steemit users liked around Christmas. If that bothered them, why didn't they simply follow people in their area? Why would I talk about a country I am not from unless I visited said country? I even added another option in case people don't really celebrate holidays but they still have traditions (like traveling). They ignored that so they can be mad about nothing. I was fed up with people finding things to get mad about/drawing their own conclusions.

Then someone bullied me because I made money on Steemit and called me entitled. The reality, I struggled with finding a job so I joined Steemit to make money yes but also as an alternative to YouTube. Mainly to give me more places to post content in case YT flew south. I also believe he reported me to Steem because they were asking me if the content is mine. AND this was on a video where my FACE WAS IN THE THUMBNAIL. I think this because when I wasn't getting hate minus the bot flagging, I had no problems. All of a sudden I'm a Jezebel for making money on Steemit and SC thinks I am stealing content.
One guy bullied me because I couldn't understand the job witnesses have on these platforms. If I had known he would have bullied me, I would have ignored him when he first asked.
People nowadays have zero patience for people having trouble learning. It's sad.

I do not really have proof but SC has a channel on discord where you can report suspected plagiarism accounts. I saw a post from someone maybe a few months after that SC flagged their account because they didn't respond to the message they were sent to confirm their account. They said they had been away from Steemit for a while or they missed the message since you get no notifications when you get comments (on the old Steemit)

I don't know the intentions of SC. I made a video about it on Verond (which is now gone) hoping someone had some info on why it happened.

I started out having a good time on Steemit but it started to fade when I had the bot accounts flagging my posts, people taking me out of context, etc.

I hope Hive opens a window for me.
