Hello, bird friends!
I'm very happy to show you this beautiful Woodpecker (*Campephilus principalis*) very close to my balcony.
The photo was taken in Nuevo Vedado, Havana.

Given the colors, it appears to be a female woodpecker preparing her nest in the trunk. from the utility pole.

It's a joyful experience to wake up to the pecking of this bird just a few meters from my balcony.

Por los colores, parece ser la hembra del carpintero, que está preparando su nido en el tronco del poste de la electricidad.

Es un suceso alegre despertar con el picotear de esta ave a solo unos metros de mi balcón.

Es muy hermoso de ver y seguramente un regalo inesperado,  pero no puedo menos que plantearme si los hemos desplazado tanto de sus hábitats naturales que se arriesgan a anidar en ambientes tan hostiles para ellos
