Betrayal of a friend

By all means, Savina was mad. The anger was very evident on her face and in her aura. Even the congregation knew her anger was not without cause as she was nothing but a kind, respectful and quiet girl. She was a typical good child and people liked her a lot. But today was not the day and it was very well known as everyone looked at her and paid extra attention to her. 

She fumed and fumed but tried to do it silently to prevent attention but it was futile. "Calm down, it's not like you are certain,'' she said. You have to make sure she said that." Evelyn, her close friend, told her. Savina was so angry that even the words her friend told her couldn't pacify her anger.

  What brought this to be, you might ask. Who made Savina so angry, you might wonder. Well, it was no other person than Delilah, her best friend who happens to be her cousin also. She just got the information about how her cousin went to backbite her. She couldn't believe it when David, her crush, told her but in his exact words, he said, "Someone very close to you destroyed your image and all. She said to let out a lot of your secrets and they were the nasty ones, like real nasty ones. I somehow feel like she made everything up but whatever."

She tried and tried to understand who did that and why. Then she remembered her cousin was nothing but a manipulative girl who had a crush on David, just like her but he paid more attention to her than Delilah, but it was hard to pin Delilah as the guilty individual, but who else?

She asked David over and over again to tell who exactly said it but he wasn't willing as the person confided in him. Later on, he dropped a hint of how the person lived behind her and all. Still, it did nothing in solving the mystery that she encompassed herself in. She promised herself to never fight because of a guy but when she had that the person was her cousin, she was flabbergasted, to say the least. She couldn't believe what he said. Fast forward a few hours and here she was, waiting for her manipulative cousin so the confrontation can begin.

The way Delilah strutted annoyed her. If she had been told, she would have been left in the dark till probably eternity. And it had been going on for about a week, so she was hurt that Delilah lied to her while remaining a hidden enemy. When their eyes met, a frozen smile enveloped her face while Delilah remained stoic and it was unlike her. 

Rather than the normal cute interactions and greetings, Delilah went straight to the point, "You were yelling in church for what? Just because of David?. You stooped so low, Savina. You told me you'll never fight because of a guy." 

Woah, what a surprise. She had expected her to be at least remorseful but she wasn't. This wasn't her cute cousin who was her best friend instead, this was a conniving snake who was so determined to destroy her friend.

 " Is that what you have to say after painting me black to David? For goodness sake Delilah you told him I had HIV, HIV! Delilah. I can't believe you said that. " Savina lamented. By now, a crowd was forming on the church premises. People were eager to find out what had made two best friends fight.

 "You said you would let go of any guy that would want to come between us as sisters." Can't you just let go of him for me? You can get any man of your choice but I want this one" Delilah argued. People were shocked to find out the reason the cousins were fighting. It was very embarrassing to find out they were fighting because of a boy.

  Delilah was a chorister in church and Savina was the church secretary. So, because of the position they held in a church, the church members had no other option than to take the matter to the priest. The priest was also shocked when he heard Delilah and Savina were fighting. Anyone who heard that would surely be shocked as they had the strongest friendship. The priest called the both of them to his office and asked them the reason they were fighting.

 Savina was so embarrassed. She didn't know how to tell the priest that she was fighting over a boy with her cousin. Without hesitation, Delilah was all too eager to let the priest know what happened. The priest listened and then let them know he was disappointed in them for fighting over a boy and also, doing so in the church.

  He scolded Delilah for her vile words towards her cousin and made sure the two of them promised never to have anything to do with the boy as he has confused their friendship.  Savina apologized to Delilah, and Delilah did the same. They later made a pact to never let a boy come in between them.
