Hello ladies and gentlemen. It's that time of the year again. It's Computex. Every year in computex companies around the world release their latest and greatest developments towards consumer hardware and some professionals as well. And boy oh boy do I have to rant again. Where do I even start? Well, first of all, maybe I can talk about Nvidia because they are one of the few companies that have finished their keynotes. There are many more keynotes to come in the next few days and I will try to keep you updated about any sort of such bonkers if it gets out in the public.

If you really have to talk about Nvidia then possibly you're going to hate me by now because I have already ranted about Nvidia in the past and they keep giving me reasons to do it again. The thing is Nvidia established their business as a gaming GPU manufacturer. They were made relevant by those gamers who bought Nvidia tpus to play games on their computers. But now the company's focus is totally shifted. They don't care about those gamers at all at this point. And from a business perspective, I really can't blame them because over 90% of their earnings come from AI related workloads. That they would fine tune their hardware to be more hand in hand with artificial intelligence. But what they're doing to the gamers at the same time is really offensive to me at least. I haven't even talked about the RTX 5060 TI 8 GB model. Because that GPU is powerful enough to produce some good numbers, but it is severely limited by its 8 GB of vram. The RTX 5060 TI 16 GB does a better job because it has that extra memory buffer. So my question being why do you even release the 8 GB model in the first place? That card was technically dead on arrival. But if we come back to the present then Nvidia has launched the RTX 5060 8 GB model in their computex keynote. Now try to understand the fact they have given us 8 GB again. And at a time where most games are now very much hungry for vram and they most certainly perform better when they're not limited by an 8 GB vram setting. We had already seen the RTX 4060 8 GB to suffer a similar fate. It was basically losing to Intel's ARC B580 just because the B580 had more vram. Now if the 4060 was trolling. So much! Imagine how the 5060 will perform now. I know Nvidia has introduced some quite compelling AI related features that can enhance your gaming experience by increasing frames to increase FPS, basically fake frames. But those features will only stay relevant for so long because that day is not far away. When 8 GB of vram will be the minimum requirement for at least most of the concurrent games of that time. Now if you need all your vram just to get into the game what will you play with? And just to reconfirm that these “AI generated frames” feature only work best when the native FPS is above or near 60. So down the road when games can stutter and hitch all the time because the GPU has 8 GB of vram in the first place and it won't get those stable 60 FPS then let alone applying those AI magic tricks upon it.

So the verdict is out that Nvidia just does not care about its budget. Gamers. They only cater to the AI related stuff and maybe some high-end consumer gaming graphics cards. But who knows how long it'll stay there because Intel is moving fast and their development on different sides and aspects are quite impressive.
