I didn’t notice until recently that Peakd now has an AI feature for image creation, which is kind of nice but also kinda meh at the same time. AI-generated content is all over the internet, and this is just the beginning. I believe we’ve barely scratched the surface.

I prefer using my own images for my posts because I have plenty, and it makes my content feel 100% original. I’ve got nothing against people using stock or AI-generated images for their blogs—as long as they’re not passed off as original photos—but I’m sticking to my own.

AI is going to be a major factor in deciding which direction humanity takes: mass productivity or mass destruction. Pick your side, folks…

I can already imagine how AI could be used to scam naive people in all sorts of ways. There’s already a new scam going around in Romania (not AI-related, though).

Here’s how it works: somehow, scammers have gotten their hands on a package delivery database and are sending people extra packages alongside the ones they actually ordered. Just yesterday, my friend’s father received one of these sketchy packages—cash on delivery, around $60. Inside? Some cheap clothing or something.

It came from Hungary (I think), but the poor guy never ordered it. He sent it back, but I imagine these scammers make a good chunk of money off people who frequently receive packages and don’t always check what they’re paying for.

Now, an AI-powered scam I can totally see happening is AI-generated voice calls mimicking the voices of our loved ones, asking for emergency money. Something similar went viral a few years ago, and plenty of elderly people fell for it.

And then there’s the inevitable wave of dumb fucks getting hooked by AI-generated “girlfriends,” throwing money away, thinking they’ve found a hot chick who actually loves them. The scam list is endless. Feels like the mother of scammers is always pregnant—same as the one birthing naive people.

I’ve never been scammed, though. I did have my MetaMask wallet compromised due to a brief lapse in judgment, but luckily, I had no coins in it. So the scammer wasted their time with me—went home empty-handed.

But yeah, technology has given us cures for deadly diseases, longer and healthier lives, and instant access to information. Unfortunately, it has also given us instant gratification poisons. There’s always a trade-off.

That’s why I won’t fight AI, but I will be cautious about it. Then again, can one ever be cautious enough?
