I suppose I have accumulated a fair number of posts by now dedicated to the crookedness, flaws, and ill nature of social media. I deleted my Facebook account around seven years ago, and aside from Twitter, which I use for crypto content consumption, I have no other social media accounts.

One of the major problems with social media is the influencers. This concept started with the aim of connecting people worldwide and keeping families tied despite the distance separating them. Instead, we've witnessed social media evolve into a narrative-creating mechanism, rotten by censorship and control exercised by the companies that own such apps over their users. The problem with influencers is what I want to address in this post.

There are many fake gurus in almost every niche we can talk about, from finance to fitness, love relationships, and so on. I've been into fitness for a while, and just as I care about choosing my following when it comes to crypto and investing, I do the same with fitness influencers. There are quite a few who have made big bucks based on their followers while selling a fake image and unattainable standards.

The fitness industry is filled with such individuals who use performance-enhancing drugs, giving advice to young ones on how to shape their physique. However, many don't realize the fact that these influencers have not shaped their bodies naturally and that they're selling fake hopes and dreams to their followers.

The same goes for finance gurus who are broke most of the time and love relationship specialists who are unhappy and unfulfilled. All of this makes me wonder: what's wrong with being yourself and working on building the best version of yourself?

I have zero to little chance of reaching a physique like the current Mr. Olympia, no matter how hard I try, because I don't have the genes to achieve that, and I am certain that I will never be as rich as Warren Buffet. However, that does not mean I can't do my best to reach my full potential in whatever aspect of life we're discussing.

We don't have to have the same goals and ambitions and reach the same peaks because we're not the same. Just look at the crypto market and see how diverse and how much everything has changed over the past few years, and realize what a fool one would be to always bet on the same coin or try to replicate what X or Y achieved during a certain bull market.

Back in 2018, I was listening to a podcast where one dude was telling his story with ETH and how he managed to buy ETH at $4 and hold it all the way to $400. That guy managed to score a 100X on his investment, and probably there are a few others who achieved that as well, but probably if I'd try that, I'd fail. Hence, I'm not that focused anymore on trying to achieve what others have achieved but rather focusing on becoming the best version of myself. 

We're not born equal, we don't have the same potential, and we should definitely not try to replicate each other's success. There's a blank page for every success story that can be, write your own, and forget about the others.
