Same river flowing through two different nations...
For many many years, the river Danube has played the role of the border between us and the Serbs. It's doing that on a length of over 200 kilometers. It plays the same role for our border with Bulgaria as well but I have never been there, thus I have no pics to show you of the country and our naturally created border.
I like the Serbs, you know. I have met quite a few throughout my life, I even had a Serbian girlfriend something like 15 years ago.
Now I only get to their country when I eat out or just for changing the air for a bit. I don't know if you have noticed it, but no matter how close two countries are with each other when you set foot on no-native ground you feel the difference.
I can go wherever in this country, but I still feel like being "inside the borders" even without having to actually talk to someone and confirm to me that: "no you're not in a different nation".
I like this little town close to us where I go quite often and eat, it's quiet, more civilized than ours, it has a somehow "Austrian vibe" by the way the houses are built and how the trees look and people are nice.
Luckily, there are plenty of them who speak Romanian too, thus there's no inconvenience in interacting with them. Especially at restaurants. We are not that friendly, I tell you that. I don't know why are we such a fucked up nation, but it is what it is.
