POSH's hidden value
One thing I've been meaning to talk about POSH and an idea that kind of got tossed aside due to Twitter's API limitations (which seem to just get worse and pushing 3rd party apps away more and more), is how powerful it can be to make our voice more heard on Twitter. 

Take for instance this Tweet posted by coingecko earlier today: https://twitter.com/coingecko/status/1620241321175945216

If it wasn't for other hiver's I wouldn't have found out about it (I don't scroll Twitter much/often) and part of it, without POSH, there may have been some hiver's who may not even be active on Twitter at all. While I know that many do it "altruistically" in a way, where they like spending their time discussing and debating Hive on #web2, I think it helps to give people that extra push with incentives to at least try it out, build a little following and attempt to drive traffic to our front-ends through Hive post shares. That is only the tip of the iceberg, though.

Some people say that POSH is only encouraging others to echo-chamber, where Hiver's follow Hiver's and some people's Twitter followers are mainly Hiver's which results in no value add to the traffic incentives we encourage and attempt to grow. Be it as it may, it's not all that bad, while there are some "bad" parts about this too, i.e. those who just focus on the posh/hive earnings from POSH and only place likes and retweets on a circle of people who also focus on mostly the earning aspect, those eventually get cut off and lose long term through our ban list. The important part there is transparency and that's why the daily posts mention each and every tweet that's earning some Hive and one of the rising reasons that a lot of those rewards go to @null is not just cause those users aren't registered but some may even have gotten banned for some of those reasons mentioned above.

POSH strives for genuine engagement, not spammy/bot like behavior and we're going to be strict about that because POSH is made possibly by the community and for the community and large parts of its funding comes from delegator curation rewards and also post rewards both which come from the reward pool, which means that any behavior we don't tolerate on Hive should also not be tolerated on Twitter - at least on the tweets where they attempt to earn Hive/POSH from which is restricted to those with Hive links and a #hive tag that makes them eligible. If they're banned they can still keep their verified Twitter icon, it's just that they'll lose the possibility to earn Hive from the poshtoken comments or POSH from the tweets. I think this is a good way to go about it and it somewhat also resembles downvotes on Hive, people can still post and store their data immutably but if they've been up to some shady things they're not expected to earn post rewards from it.

Some time ago we discussed the rewarding of #hive mentions by themselves, i.e. without the links directly and including replies to tweets. This would've been a great idea but unfortunately the API is quite restricted and this action would've easily gotten us over the limits jeopardizing the main POSH activity from working properly.

The point is though that just because people aren't rewarded posh for that activity, they all know that talking Hive and bringing it up helps hive, especially if done in relatable tweets. While we may bring some more manual reward distributions to those doing this, for now we'll just focus on bringing more value to POSH in usecases, sinks, buybacks, etc. 

If we look back at a few years ago there was barely any Hive activity on Twitter, while some OG's like @theycallmedan and others have been going at it pre-posh, I think it's safe to say that POSH has encouraged a lot more people to join in and check what it's about. Maybe posh was an early indicator and then they realize how valuable it is to mention Hive out there but I'm glad to see the growth of active users on there and any and all actions, whether in likes, retweets or shares, effectively increasing the range of our awareness through Twitter's algo's. 

I'll be posting in the near future as well about Reddit, but that one is quite a different beast. If some of you guys here are annoyed some times that some communities mute your post cause you didn't follow some of their very few community rules, you're going to absolutely despise reddit's subreddits and the amount of rules and reasons for them to mute your submissions. Even though the big subreddits are generally quite anti-links (taking people outside of reddit, some times not even allowing submitters to source) there's still quite a lot of smaller subreddits and growing in #web3 and things we're interested in that I'd like to make a compilation of after hours of testing and checking how they behave. I'm sure we can make Reddit POSH just as valuable as Twitter one has become and keep growing and evolving the project from here.

Since, twitter is Getting more strict or pushing away.. I also don't see much impressions on twitter while on the other side two days ago I created reddit and set up profile.

Shared a hive post of mine and shocked to see this impression on newly created profile.

Tho, I wonder why the post I shared on Reddit didn't fetched posh link on post (I shared it first one Twitter and than on Reddit).

Some communities does allow to share Posts with Link some don't. Here's a response I Got from community when I asked to host and approve PeakD Pictures:

Could you link to any examples? There are some "hive subreddits" we've removed from being able to earn POSH from, some people still keep posting in r/hivenetwork for instance even though it's meant for submissions about Hive, not random Hive posts about random things.

I've not found any hive subreddit yet...  will search for it.

As far I'm getting, earning posh is possible if post on other subredddit i.e : Photography post on /rphotography 

Or there's a list of Posh whitelisted communities?

Sorry if I asked too many questions just trying to understand concept to help others and do it right way.

Great @acidyo , I think one of the most important things about posh is the tool as a discovery set, because the person, for example, can be looking for a tweet about finance and find "#leofinance #hive" or be looking for a game and a # appears hive #splinterlands" as much as I believe that a good part is inside the hive, this is normal for any and all social networking tools.

It works more or less like the ones recommended on YouTube, there will always be someone joining and getting to know the community and its contents.

Good job I love the #posh #hive

Unfortunately I've been the victim of some type of odd algorithmic ban on twitter, and to be truthful, it started just after i spent time actively promoting hive hard back in 2020 with Nathan mars and theycallmedan. This was before posh. 

Straight up, I was the first person to notice Brian Armstrong tweeting about wanting to list new 'high utility' altcoins on coinbase, and i rallied a decent amount of people to shout out hive on his tweet. Then after I asked Dan to get involved getting the word out obvs a bunch of people who perhaps thought i was too 'small time' got involved adding their voice to that tweet. 

The real world result of all my work back then promoting hive? ... non of my IRL friends see my tweets anymore. Which is a problem given I've had to create a whole new account to promote my mainstream writing, but don't have half the follower base on that account, and have had to call or message many childhood friends to try to get them to follow my other account.

I think my point is that although you talk about rules and incentives for earning posh by promoting hive on twitter in this post acidyo, like many people on hive (and I've been guilty of this in the past myself) you maybe forget the collateral damage that can happen trying to promote web 3.0 on twitter. As far as I'm concerned, it isn't worth nuking my authors account by sharing some of the poetry & creative writing blogs I post on here, which is a shame... but it is reality.
I still occasionally share hive articles and blogs on my original account with appropriate hashtags, but they get zero engagement, which is a direct result of whatever strange algorithmic categorisation twitter has assigned that account. I've checked, and it isn't shadow banned. There is something else going on.

Basically, if history is anything to go by if I share hive content on my other author's account the same odd problem might (probably will) happen where suddenly the visibility of my tweets plummet to zero. 

This is not me being paranoid, it is exactly what happened on my `@rowanj808` Twitter account. But with my author's account, I can't afford to lose visibility as it is the first place editors of journals, and even literary agents, go to look at what I am about. There is still something going on with using certain hashtags relating to web 3.0 platforms which limits visibility, apart from to other people using the same hashtags, at least that is what I've deduced. 

It is frustrating to me as I would love to point editors/agents to my short story collection (published on hive) via Twitter, but currently, the only effective way to get them to consider these self-published works as a body of work is by mentioning/linking that collection post in query emails.

It isn't an insurmountable problem, it is just frustrating.

As far as being "shadowbanned" without really being shadowbanned, it's hard to say what hidden algo's they have, thought it would be something that'd come to light and be gone and done with with Elon taking over.

Yup, I completely agree. I don't think Elon Musk got rid of these mechanisms, I just think he realigned them to serve his agenda and worldview.
