Sleep
Sleep's always been a bit weird to me, not the activity itself, I mean if you think about it it is quite a weird activity in general; you need a place where you can lay half-dead for 1/3rd of your day, but my sleep has always differed from what I believe to be normal sleeping routines of the majority.

When I was young I used to love being able to stay awake longer, not sure if it's cause my parents were always strict about my sleeping hours that drove me to enjoy staying up longer or if it's a mix with the enthusiasm for the internet that I got around the same age when I received my first computer. I felt like I was cheating others in a way that I could retain more waking hours to intake more information and do other kind of entertaining fun stuff while most kids used to go to sleep at around 10-ish to wake up at 6 to start their day and get ready for school. There was a period in my life there where I'd go to sleep at around 2, wake up at 6, go on about my day normally, then take a nap once I got home from school and wake up in the evening to do it all over again.

I retained that activity for many, then there was also the period where I got into lucid dreaming. Not sure how I stumbled upon it, but with a few easy tricks like putting on an alarm half an hour into my sleep, stay up for a few minutes and go back I'd manage to become lucid quite often. Research at the time would tell you that lucid dreaming wouldn't affect your REM sleep so in a way you could spend "waking hours" lucid dreaming while still sleeping. In and of itself this activity was quite weird I admit, especially for a teenager and it didn't take me long of discussions about it to realize that my peers also found it quite weird so I mostly kept it to myself and enjoyed my new free time in waking sleep. In a way I think I got a lot of good out of it, it often indeed felt like time was moving differently for me, not just cause of the countless hours I'd spend imagining and outplaying different scenario's in my lucid dreaming but also how it affected my experience with things. I remember how it changed the way I'd socialize with people, from having been the shy observer most of the time to slowly but surely getting into the "main character" kind of role where things would revolve around me in my friendships and I'd often find myself leading certain conversations. I'm not saying this to brag or to encourage people to get into lucid dreaming, the part I've yet to talk about this might be some negative long term side-effects that may have come from it, but for the time it did indeed feel like I was growing "faster" than others mentally. I also somehow became funnier over time, not sure if this was cause of my wild imagination, both being awake and asleep, or that certain things like experiences and memories in both worlds had lead me to be aware/prepared of certain scenarios to play out and getting to re-live them I'd often look for something to say or think that'd be a bit outside the box in the funny area. Maybe it was also due to the hype of Family Guy and American Dad at the time that my humor would be a bit more excessive or "shocking" sort of like "what's something you'd least expect someone to say right now" that'd make people laugh about certain situations and social interactions. Either way, I don't have many regrets there, this newfound confidence and humor lead to some great years in my late teens and early twenties.

https://cdn.pixabay.com/photo/2016/02/05/13/11/fairy-tale-1180921_960_720.png

In the early twenties is when my sleep started to change again, I wasn't even trying to control it much by then or forcing it to change. From sleeping a few hours every night and taking a nap during the day it changed to more of a "let's try sleep at least 6 hours every night and no beauty nap" (come to think of it, maybe this is why people always thought I was younger than I really was, jk they were probably just forced to ask for ID of anyone looking under 30). It was difficult early on but with daily activities I found myself getting quite sleepy in good time and usually get at least 6h sleep every night but I would often find myself doing things on the computer later than my sleep would've wanted me to. It slowly over time progressed into this rhythm where I couldn't be able to fall asleep unless I was really, really sleepy.

It could be a mix of my later twenties not needing me to wake up early anymore for university or a job, some would think I was doing it on purpose to "save waking hours" again, but that wasn't the case. Even after having researched what some people with odd sleeping patterns would attempt to do, like this one case where a person would sleep 5-7x per day for about 15minutes and force themselves to wake up and more impressively stay up until their next nap. Apparently once you got used to it for a few weeks it got easier and it also resulted in close to no REM loss as they'd fall into it instantly and if you've calculated on your fingers this meant that they'd only sleep about a couple hours per day. That never seemed enticing to me to even try, I was a deep sleeper, if I fell asleep there was not much that could successfully wake me up. Maybe me having fallen asleep first when I was really sleepy and usually having a hard time falling asleep if I wasn't was part of the cause to that deep sleep, though I often wondered if that caused any side effects then and later on in life, and kind of still do.

So this lead to my sleep being what it is now, and something I've posted about on Hive in the past. Basically I let my sleepiness dictate when I go to sleep. If it's the hour of when I went to sleep yesterday it doesn't mean that's when I automatically try and go to sleep, even if I try it doesn't mean that I will get sleep until maybe a couple to a few hours later. I'm not really sure what is that has resulted in this being the way I sleep now, it could be the lucid dreaming wasn't as well researched as I thought it was when I was sporting it back in my younger days. Could be the napping in the middle of a day for a couple hours and having to wake up only after 4-5h sleep every night had long term effects on my sleep. Or it could of course also be the lifelong overusage of computers and neglecting physical activity (especially now in my thirties). Most likely a combination of them all and add a little crypto market anxiety and stress on top of it all for the perfect mix of me not being able to fall asleep when I should and try to. Although lately I think I've gotten ~~jaded~~ battle-hardened to at least intentionally not worry too much about the markets, but the fact remains that my sleep remains the way it is.

https://cdn.pixabay.com/photo/2020/03/11/21/06/seal-4923333_960_720.jpg

These days my sleeping clock shifts forward a couple to a few hours every night almost depending on what I did that day. I could for instance start a Monday night going to sleep at 12 am and waking up at 7-8 am, by the time next Monday arrives my sleep is set to going to sleep 12 hours later at 12 pm in the day and waking up in the evening. In a way I guess every couple weeks I get one day where I haven't slept at all this way, but can't say much about how healthy that is, probably not.

With that said, I think I'm going to try to tend to my new years resolutions that miserably failed quite hard except for the one about posting every day. Guess I'm a decent enough Hiver to keep that one going at least, but I'm going to try work on the other things a bit more now. Physical activity, even though my location and climate makes it a bit difficult right now, some added time off-screen (both pc and phone) and see if that improves my sleep at the same time by trying to be physically tired enough to fall asleep at the same hour every night rather than it moving forward. I think that with age, it also has resulted in this thing where if I do eventually get sleepy enough, I can't really stay awake. Or like, it makes it really hard to stay awake if I "have to", something I had no issues when I was younger. I remember at lanparties I used to be able to stay awake for 72h before the party was over and I got to go home to sleep in my own bed. Nowadays if I get past hour 14 or so some times when I'm trying to correct what hour I go to sleep to start a week in proper sleeping hours, it gets really difficult to stay awake. I'm in this weird zombie state where I can't really do much, especially not physical except for trying to stay awake and do minimal activity. Oh well, maybe that's just age and you guys can let me know how that affects you.

I'll let you know how my renewed new years resolution plans go. :p

Your content is so creative and everyone loves to sleep well, but the thing is that some of us find it difficult to sleep, while some people find it easier to get rest than others. Now that I'm getting older, I struggle to sleep and I'm always overthinking in the night. Whenever I wake up though, I'm grateful that I can still do a lot of things.

A fascinating article, I had seen it a few days ago, but I'm only reading it now :p It made me want to write the story of my sleep, we'll see if I end up adding it here, in the near future ^^

Lucid dreams ! That's really good stuff ! I had a few as a teenager, but it was much less frequent than for you it seems. I think smoking for a few years changed the whole thing, but I hardly remember my dreams anymore... When I was younger, I liked to stay up until I fell asleep, like you I felt like I was gaining hours of life... or at least not losing any ! It took me years to really enjoy sleeping, it really came in successive waves of good and bad rhythms. But now I love going to bed early and getting up before the sun, I feel like we're close to the same age and I think that's what makes me mature even more :D

There was a time when I went out a lot more, I had adopted this rhythm of the solo sailor, I slept two hours a night and then 15 minutes every three/four hours. That's kind of what taught me to fall asleep in three breaths. In the beginning, I even fell asleep sitting with a spoon in my hand. When it fell out, I had slept enough. It was an effective and interesting experience and I didn't have too much trouble getting out of it, although gradually.

Thank you again for this good reading, as I'm coming to the end of this commentary, I'm thinking of organizing a challenge about these questions of sleep and dreams... We'll see ;-) Sleep is also part of my resolutions, I wish you to keep a good rhythm

✌️

When I was young, I worked at a company at night, I had to be awake from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., with those late nights the body feels strange, not having the same sleep routine that is normal for the body, and then I had to sleep during the day to recover, but the truth is that dreams that are lost are never recovered. One thing you can do to sleep well is to practice a sport like hiking or running, when you train at night the body asks you to sleep early due to physical exhaustion, exercise is an excellent therapy.

I need to fix my sleep cycle, it is affecting me a lot to sleep so little, and at my 40 sleeping little the other day I wake up very bad, with anxiety and stress a million times and the body trembling, but I can not sleep well as I did in my youth when I slept so peacefully. Now I wait working in front of the PC for sleep to overcome me and I tell my kitty who always accompanies me let's go to sleep, and in 1 minute she is in bed with me.

I really need more sleep.

Thanks for sharing with us your personal experiences.

I feel that yes, one should have a regular schedule for sleeping and resting. That should have consequences in the long run. And sleeping little is even worse, because as I said, when I sleep little the next day the anxiety process becomes worse and even my body trembles, I spend the day tired. You have to find ways to fix it, have a schedule with a restful sleep, and then the next day feel good, active and perform in the activities.

I hope I can try what you say, I will read it and research it well, it sounds attractive and more if one wants to sleep well. I would love to.

The truth is that my sleeping habits changed when I was 50 years old.

In general, I could sleep between 5 and 6 hours (even a little less) and that was enough for me.

Nowadays I find it hard to stay awake after 10 p.m. and I sleep between 7 and 9 hours. I don't nap, never have.

I agree with you when you say that it seems strange to have to spend a third of our life sleeping, but that's how we recover, I guess every living being needs rest.

I was encouraged to comment because sleep has been a struggle, sometimes for me. There are seasons where insomnia attacks me. Right around the time of the last HiveFest I had an episode of 15 days of very little sleep. And I think I collapsed.

Regards.

After a recommendation by @anttn, I read this post. My understanding is sleep is that natural biorhythm, which maintains balance and reduces mental, physical, and emotional stress. Now I understand why some people have so stressful life. Your post inspired me to write a post in unity toward freedom community. thanks for sharing. greetings😊🙏 have a nice peaceful Sunday with enough at least 6 hours of sleep.

I think for one, your sleeping routine is quite interesting because I can't see myself doing that but I'm not saying it's impossible to do that because I've actually tried all of these but not for too long because I'm one person that loves her sleep, hehe. I love it that you are making a resolution to change that and I think it would only be hard but you will achieve it.

The part where you say you go your own hours not sleeping is something that is not advisable but then I think that happens mostly when we have so much on our hands and the urge to get some sleep is not just there, hehe.

It's probably a lot of thinking as well, if I'm not very sleepy I think a lot about things, generally Hive. Like what could be improved, what's missing, how can something be innovated, etc.

Yeah, without you telling it's obvious that you think on mostly what can be done to make Hive more and more beautiful, I think that is something that happens when you have find a home in something or even someone.

I do have those days when I just try to think of what I can do to make an impact and it's just hard to feel sleepy at those times not to talk of someone like you who is already used to waking sleeping pattern and always ready to make a difference.

>When I was young I used to love being able to stay awake longer

Wait, whaaat? I thought it's only me who used to love this but all those restrictions by parent's and fix sleeping schedule for school mostly didn't allowed me to stay up for long.

Man, Lucid dreaming is something I would like to know how it feels to dream knowing you're dreaming Like bruh you're living example of Inception (Movie 🎥).

Sometime I wonder if not dreaming is okay... Like the last dream I saw was more than 6+ months ago... My routine is kinda messed up usually stays up till 4 or 5 and wake up at 10. Ain't Got no way to fix this sleeping cycle.

Hey you can easily train yourself to get into lucid dreaming, given a bit of luck as it seems not everyone can manage it (even with the tricks to do beforehand). I could probably do some research and catch up on everything again for another post if you're interested in trying it out. Some of them aren't that difficult and just require some practice/habits.

I think I remember one of the hardest ones to do is waking up after 30mins of sleep, preferably having a coffee machine that makes you coffee on a set timer, chugging the coffee quick and going back to sleep before you lose it. This makes it so the caffeine becomes effective when you're back dreaming again and helps you become lucid easier.

I will try and would love to see another post on this topic. It's quite fascinating discussion...

 >Some of them aren't that difficult and just require some practice/habits.

This works with dreaming as well right? I don't get to see dreams.

>I think I remember one of the hardest ones to do is waking up after 30mins of sleep

For me it just take a moment to wake up when mom calls or alarm ring... Hmm, will Give it a try.

Sleep is a really magical thing and as someone who is now in my mid-20s, or I would say 25, I have to say that I also have a hard time sleeping at night. Mine is probably based on anxiety about the future, etc. I don't really know, but I would say that increasing your physical activity is a good way to improve your sleep patterns. I'm sure you've heard this, but you have to stop eating 3 hours before you go to sleep, otherwise you might not be able to sleep or you might wake up at night. I guess you don't want that.

Hello Acidyo, sleep is something intriguing, about 10 years ago, I managed to stay awake for several days in a row, whether to go out, play games or on the internet, nowadays, I also don't have a fixed sleep schedule, but when I see that I'm tired and I go to bed.

I believe that a little bit is the mental exhaustion and stress that we have on a daily basis, this affects more than physical effort, in the pandemic and due to an injury I had stopped running, I felt that I lost focus and sleep, in December I went back to training running, this is making me sleep better, and the body "self-awakens" I don't need a cell phone alarm clock anymore, the body wakes up at different times, but when it is really "ready" to wake up.

One of the motivations that have helped me sleep better is running training and also the weekly posts I make on liketu, it's also cool to see that people inspire you to keep going, @elmerlin was an example, I was extremely surprised that he did runs with an extremely strong rhythm, that for me is the hive, a community that can be used for information, evolution and motivation.

Never heard about the Lucid Dreaming. In the past years, where I had a huge load of work through different activities I used the polyphasic sleep. There was the core sleeping time that had to be a full number of 1.5h of sleep, that is one REM cycle.
In the afternoon, the nap was (and still is because this really works) of 24 minutes. It's strange at the beginning and I ended up sleeping hours. But then I got used and now as well, if I am not deadly tired, my afternoon nap is naturally of about 24 mins.

The time shift that you mentioned, is not healthy at all. During university, I changed for some time my studying schedule from day to night, because heat during the day was roasting me. I got to make some routine analysis I was doing that period and the doctor found that cortisol, the hormone that is released naturally in our body at 8am and 3pm, that regulates our circadian rhythm was completely mad.
SO I am still absolutely recommending the polyphasic sleep (in different levels) but not time shifts since they are usually bad for metabolism and humor.

Lol! I'm delighted that you penned these thoughts, and happy that I read them.😅
I have always, and I still have lucid dreams. A ~~bit~~ lot more than research says is normal. However, I'd never allow anyone to change it. I think it helps to keep nightmares at bay:)

### Irregular sleep:

My 20's - perfectly fine without sleep,
My 30's - avoid me for your safety without sleep
In my 40's - able to cope without much sleep

Let's see what happens in 3 years and onwards...

Hehe I'm in your 30s mostly when I have just woken up and not had anything to drink/coffee yet, not a fan of talking/laying around after having woken up. Always in a rush to get dressed and turn the PC on. There was the one exception a few weeks ago when @hiddenblade woke me up and there was a new kitten in the bed. :p

Almost the same topic I posted yesterday. I enjoy not sleeping, because I'm very productive at night because of several factors such as silence and strong internet. For more than 10+ years, I've been enjoying sleeplessness, but when I reach ~30, I feel that my body is reacting already. I wish I could do more programming, but my body si telling me to fix my sleepign cycle already.

Hope you can find a compromise too!

I've always been very interested in lucid dreams, I've studied them but I've never been able to actually get into them. I confess that I would like to succeed sooner or later.

As far as sleep is concerned, I've always loved to sleep a lot, but on the other hand when I was young I slept very little.
Now maybe because I'm getting old there are times when I need to do it.

But I'm strange, I've always preferred to sleep during the day, precisely in the morning and I've always been more productive at night, I don't know why, even as a boy I was always looking for night jobs.

However, I believe that at least seven hours of sleep are necessary, even if I don't always get them.
However, a really interesting topic, thanks for making me think about it a bit.

Interesting. I´m also not your regular sleeper. I always slept less than my peers, which somehow gradually turned into insomnia that I struggled with for years. It´s been pretty good lately but you never know when it strikes again. I definitely learned to value every single hour of sleep. Btw no experience with lucid dreams here. How about some other unusual sleep phenomena like sleep paralysis, astral projection etc?

Not really had those, I've once experienced a form of paralysis but it was more in term of shock/delusion, basically, I was falling asleep during the day for a nap and I felt a hand touching me on my back/spine. So either I was paralysed or the thought that there's no way it could be anyone/fear of turning around to check kept me still for a minute or two trying to make sense of what just occurred. I remember it feeling very real but the odds of there actually being someone were close to 0, hell even in the most random odds that there was someone who had been hiding in the closet or under the bed why would they just randomly touch my spine and do nothing else, you know. So it might've been paralysis and I then snapped out of it and started moving. I remember I didn't even really look around the room cause I was sure there was nothing there, lol, just got up and made some coffee and told a friend about what just occurred.

About lucid dreaming, the first time it happened and what delved me into researching it more was that it happened randomly on its own. I don't recall if I did something special that night to trigger it but I then quickly learned how you could to guarantee lucidity more often and became pretty successful at it to the point where I could become lucid almost every night, although most times it'd be afternoon's/evening's during my nap that I'd experience it. One of the things that worked the most was making a habit out of looking at your hand in your dream. Everyone dreams most of the time but you never remember it, so by making a habit at looking at your hand a few times per day in your waking state you also bring that into your dream state and when you do look at your hands in your dream they're always looking weird/unfamiliar, especially fingers. This was then the most common trigger for me to become aware that I was in a dream and take control over what was occurring, it also let me escape nightmares whenever they'd occur (not often) so was kind of nice that way aside from the positive effects of improving things for your waking life.

Cool. Actually I have this "ability" to escape nightmares too but only by waking up whenever the dream gets too bad. But that´s it, I cannot control what I do in the dream, I can just wake up. But that´s not lucid dreaming. What you describe is a pretty badass lucid dreaming. But yeah, sleep is one of the most fascinating and mysterious things that has been boggling many scientists. Back in my insomnia days, I read the Matthew Walker´s besteller "Why We Sleep" and while it didn´t actually help much with my issues, I learned a lot of interesting things about sleep. You may want to give it a try.

Damn, I never knew you were into Lucid dreaming. This stuff is so powerful, and just like you said; it feels like hi-jacking or beating the system since you can learn, train, practice (or whatever) while you "sleep". I also checked out "power napping", I think it may have been the same case where someone would need to sleep 15 minutes every X hours being awake. Kinda interesting, I tried it out myself but never could succeed in that as I really needed at least 3 hours of sleep. (I do manage to fall asleep whenever I want (and also when I don't want xD)).

I know you have a long run of fucked up sleep. I think I had insomnia while you already had it back in our Steemchat days, right? Putting away your phone was one of the first things I did actually. Right now, I have turned off ALL notifications, including phone calls. This includes sounds, vibrations, and lights. I'm so used to it now, it gives me a lot of rest and the feeling that I have more "control" over my own life, whereas I usually looked at my phone instantly when I received a notification, which evolved into checking my phone _if_ there was a notification. I strongly believe that this triggered something with my 'alertness', thus forcing my body to remain more awake, in case of an ~~emergency~~ notification.

What I did to "fix" my sleep, was start to shut down the phone notifications, and I kinda got forced due to the situation we were into 1+ year ago where I had to man up and be there for Lackofcolor and her early fucking appointments. I lost so much "attention" or something, that I needed to sleep at least 8 hours to be able to drive a car again (so I could drive her safely to her destination). Not sure if it is age, but I do think we had a similar youth regarding sleep, staying up late, and trying to do more things in a single day, but I don't think I had as many lucid dreams as you, but I do have a fair share of getting 'back to the archives' while sleeping. Anyway... now I'm sleeping around 12:00 - 01:00 maximum, and I wake up around 07:00 - 10:00, which kinda differs from day to day. But I feel so exhausted the moment I wake up even after sleeping 10 hours. Not sure if this is eldery stuff, or the stuff that's going on right now. Either way... I think to "fix" your sleep schedule is to force yourself to sleep, or to do "nothing" at all, so you'll bore yourself to sleep.

> I do manage to fall asleep whenever I want

Jealous. I knew a person back in the day who could do this, and quick. Like we'd be at our summer job during coffee break and he could take 15min naps at will, even with a lot of noise around him, and in sitting position, like wtf.

Lucid dreaming helped me quite a bit, I remember there was a period also where I started stuttering a little for some reason, especially with loud noises around one it was hard to start talking depending on certain letters. At first I tried circumventing it by avoiding certain words as the starter but that wasn't that easy, lol. Somehow lucid dreaming about it and practicing talking more while switching ambience from silent to loud noises I got over it in real life as well.

Also yep, that's why I'm always on "busy" on Discord, the notification spams, especially during a bull run made it impossible to get anything done, not to mention interrupting a train of thought or other discussions with people. Don't think I've ever had my phone on non-silent neither, maybe I might remember to do so while I'm out but it's not like people use it to call anymore so whatever messages are being sent are almost never something urgent.

Maybe some form of meditation may help to at least get used to "do nothing" when trying to fall asleep cause lately trying to do nothing only makes me think harder about random things, mostly crypto related.

Heheh, I even managed to fall asleep while holding a plate full of food lmao. My roommate was still talking to me. Notifications and stuff... can be quite demanding, and I'm more like if I have time, I'll just reply, or call back whoever called me. A phone or whatever device should never demand my time (but yeah, it's more or less the reality that we live in).

I think you have a good partner in Hiddenblade to practice meditation! Might be fun to try out and have some sort of ceremony and have some laughs together the couple of first times you're doing it. Dymph isn't that spiritual (while she's really down-to-earth from nature), and she sometimes just laughs at me for doing or proposing stuff. I send you a playlist of Solfeggio frequencies before you replied, that stuff is really nice to listen to while doing some meditation (or being in a blank state of mind).

Sleep is such a personal subject for me as I love the act and the topic.
Although I am still young I tend to sleep more than 12+ hours (day and night). Then when I rise I'm still ready for more sleep.
I think for sleep it's not really something you can control outrightly. Different people have different sleep strengths and it's also related to your state of mind.
I'm usually very calm so I guess it makes it easier for me to go to sleep vise versa to someone who's hyper.

I just spent an hour trying to explain to my 4-year-old why we should sleep...she thought of it as punishment apparently...

I had to give her the example of her favorite tablet charging up so she could watch cartoons...and then I needed to lie down with her until she sleeps because "daddy needs to charge up, otherwise Daddy will become weak"...

That ended up with poems, and stories until she fell asleep...I, myself drifted off xD...

Adulting is tiring as hell...don't have the energy to try anything else like lucid dreaming...

Now that is something, a big something... Welldone on that, I myself always stayed at the back and kept my saying for myself. Don't get me wrong I still observe from the back but in a totally different manner. I let people over extend and play all their cards... Okay it might be a little bit different from the situation you are referring to.

Basically I always kept quite even if I didn't really wanted to a particular thing, i just kept quiet and did it even though I hated it... I have to say the last two... Maybe three years I started standing up for myself and for those I believe in... Letting people walk over you is not the way it's meant to be..

If I don't like something I have a right to disagree with it and make it known aswell... It's much better than submitting to some dumbass thinking he knows better.

_wow okay that sidetracked real fast_

Im glad you got more confidence over the years

Haha yea a bit, I meant more in like social circles I was usually more of the quiet kid, even if something came to mind to say I'd usually not, but that changed over time and I think the fact I was quiet in the past kept me modest enough to not seek that status of always having to be the center of attention or what some people liked to do which I used to call "cheap humor", make fun of others or say funny things at other's expanse, often resulting to it becoming a repetitive thing they'd settle for due to lack of actually being funny which in turn bordered on bullying.

Luckily we didn't have much of that in the school as it was quite a small class (20-30) and not a lot of drama to ensue.

Last I checked only a small %, maybe 30%, experience it once in their lives at random, but as mentioned here in the comments one can assist it from occurring more regularly. It takes time and some times a little effort but it's definitely worth it. Imagine a world where you control pretty much everything and can do pretty much anything and time moves slower so you can do more of anything. :D

At the age of 30, I was on the Internet until 2-3 am. Now the same thing, 15 years later, I sleep 6-7 hours a night and really like to sleep during the day, after a walk and dinner.
It would be great if lucid dreams could sometimes predict the future of the markets.

I used to enjoy taking a nap after food but ever since I had my gallbladder removed it has become harder to do so, especially if you have a decent sized meal, it's not recommended to lay down after eating and I usually try not to eat a few hours before bed.

I also tried lucid dreaming but I didn't manage to enter that state apart from a few times :/. If it wasn't for meditation, I personally wouldn't enjoy sleeping or be in a deep sleep for 6 to 7 hours. I feel like if I can stop the train of thoughts in my head, I can sleep at any moment I want.

It wasn't like this while growing up especially in my teenage years. I had a hyperactive curious mind that wouldn't allow me to sit still or even fall asleep. It's only when my body reached the limits of exhaustion that I'll 'find myself asleep'. I still wonder why humans have to sleep everyday despite the short time we have here on Earth.

Hehe guess I'm still in that phase then and as I commented earlier in that thread I should really give meditation a try cause I can't dim down all the thoughts going on.

Lol, indeed. Meditation will definitely help in reducing the constant storms in the mind.

@zaibkang ·
I always tried to sleep 8 hours minimum but end up with 6 to 7 hours, I personally don't feel fresh and motivated until I am able to sleep 8 hours per night

There is a huge difference between sleeping in the day light and sleeping in the darkness of the night, but unfortunately we are not following the rules of nature that's why we are suffering with so many mental and physical health issues
