I've had a few discussions with one guy in particular regarding resteems as a metric to gauge quality/important content.

Generally, friends will resteem friends posts but this will normally be limited to a handful of resteems.  You can tell when an important/interesting post hits the chain as it can quickly hit double figure resteems showing that it *should* have some interest to the wider community.

Obviously there are some resteem spammers (I did some stats recently and found a few shit-posts resteemed 100's of times!) but if the likes of you, BT, V4V, theycallmedan, smooth, etc, choose to resteem something, it's likely that this posts content is worth a look.  If the resteem spammers and follow4follow accounts were removed, something based around steem-ua could be used to show that a post resteemed by high UA accounts was a post worth checking in on.

If I resteem something, it's likely I've commented, and have noticed votes on my comment following the resteem and taken them as a 'thanks'.  This feature is both underused and abused at the same time but with a bit of a re-work I think it could guide some sort of Trending page.

I think having separate rewards for resteems is a great idea!🙂 personally, I haven’t been the most active resteemer. I resteem more than I did when I first joined steemit though. 

I think separate rewards for resteems would encourage more people to resteem. There would be a larger incentive to do so. Resteeming is something I’ve been trying to do more but it can be somewhat tricky since the stuff I resteem doesn’t have much to do with my artwork. 

I was thinking about making a separate account dedicated to resteeming more content,but that’s still just a thought. 

Bottom line though... I think more rewards incentivize more activity. Hopefully it’s the kind of activity that you’re shooting for if you want more people resteeming quality content.

I get so happy when others leave comments on my posts and try my best to respond and leave comments on their pages but I run out of voting power and feel so bad when I can’t upvote posts I enjoy😞

I think we are encouraged to follow only those who interests us rather than to get annoyed by posts of uninteresting, blockchain loitering sewer rat like me. @acidyo
But I myself won't unfollow because it is a hell lot of work to do so.
Resteems are also good if we do want to advertise the post to our followers for any reason whatsoever. So if there would be a mechanism for making it incentivized for a commenter that would be awesome.

The only reason I've ever unfollowed someone is because they spam resteemed stuff (Like, 40 posts in 2 hours). I think it's pretty silly to unfollow someone over something they've resteemed unless it was exceptionally heinous. Then again, people do love to baby rage over stupid shit :) 

I think this could be a good incentive and it would be worth a try if you could get something together for it. But, then again I'm a potato with social media, so what do I know?

Steeve is the my go-to place to rate people's ~~garbage~~ content on top of flags.

Most of the stuff I resteem these days tend to be certain Utopian posts or major drama.

If someone gets mad at other people up-voting comments to their post, they're an idiot. Though it can be annoying when someone votes on a really bad comment or self-votes. But that's the nature of this place. It's like getting mad at the rain when it helps the flowers grow.

It might be nice if they built some sort of affiliate reward system into Steem...but I doubt anyone's going to go through the trouble of doing what you said.

But I always upvote comments I think are good, when I do read the comments. Fuck anyone with a problem with it. :D

meh it’s better to just follow and comment and share based on genuine enthusiasm. This is overthinking imo

I admit, I forget to resteem at times.

Anyway, @ocd is the one which gave me hope here on Steem back in 2017. I am almost ot give up until I received an upvote on my post. Thanks.

That's a very good thing @acidyo that you until follow curating and working hard to curate more. But i have notice most of the people don't seem to follow it. Resteems is also a very good way to support good blogs and give them their credit which they deserve. It feels very good that a whale like you thinking for the well of minnows.

Wow, interesting to reward resteem as well. As far as I’m concern, I have only experienced @justyy way of curating posts, leaving a comment below the posts and asked the author to acknowledge with a reply so that the author could get an extra boost of vote based on the daily top posts selection he curated (as top posts, seldom resteem). Well, it could be the same way but by resteem. I believe that resteem will help to increase the post’s exposure, even though they may not comment on the post. Anyway, this resteem idea is definitely a yes, why not?

Hmm. Wouldnt that be abused easily? Clicking a resteem costs nothing. 
And honestly im not a fan of someone that resteems a lot. I barely do it once a week and only if i find the post of extreme value. 
I know people that have more resteems then posts. I mostly unfollow them because i followed them for their content not other people content, if they resteem too much. 
I assume there are others that share the same sentiment.

I know our SMT wings have been clipped temporally but what if you vote on a post that is resteemed on your feed, the person that resteemed it gets a smt rewarding him, like a curation token or something...

The main problem is what would give value to that token... maybe instead the resteemer can get 5-10% of the value of the vote you give IF you don't follow the person he resteemed? I think it can work with the correct numbers...

Attaching financial rewards for good resteems is definitely a great idea and beats bit bots by a wide margin. Resteem reward pool sounds like an interesting idea. The thing is that the impact of the resteemed post should be measured reliably for the rewards to be correct.

That's a good idea. I have been trimming my following list for a while and kind of rely on resteeming by others to find good posts that aren't in my feed or people to follow. 

On the comment thing, people are weird. I am always happy if I see a pile on in the comments!
