What are some accounts you'd forfeit author rewards to if you could?
I know we've been talking autovotes, abuse, and all that stuff for quite a lot lately. 

So I figured, something I mentioned in a recent comment that we don't see much of on Hive, is to purposely forfeit some of those autovotes to certain accounts/projects/maybe even charities we think help the ecosystem if some of us some times don't have something amazing to post that day but may not wanna let the autovotes "go to waste" so to speak. 

I also realize I'm often an easy target whenever I'm trying to point out to abuse or fight it off cause lately I have been posting more often and could use the rewards since I'm trying to help fund quite a big gaming project here on hive @holozing. 

For whoever needs to hear it though, there are often times I don't post at all because I'm either too busy or don't really have anything good to say that day. To maximizers this may sound like crazy talk, but it's okay to just not make the most of your autovotes all the time, there's plenty of years left of hive inflation.

A week's break? I surely deserve downvotes for overrewarded content just cause I'm posting more often now!

WTF was I thinking there? Small breaks are good? I could've easily gotten $200 in author rewards had I just repeated some older posts over and over in that week, I'm such a moron!

What is wrong with me?! Imagine all the stakeholders I could've _lured_ into my project had I just kept posting daily about @holozing, I'd definitely be way better off today funding wise and wouldn't have to buy up vials with Hive being at 20cents. 

Anyway, jokes aside, I know I do quite well on Hive generally and have had many opportunities to 5-10x my holdings had I done good trades instead of staying staked most of these years, but long term vision, right? Who knows when Hive stops dumping to let you buy it back cheaper, not really a risk I wanna take. 

I'm sure I may also regret some of these days I've missed out on posting for real since I could be doing a lot of other cool things with the funds that don't directly benefit me personally but could help zing do better or the posh token. I do honestly think that keeping things in moderation while at the same time putting some respect behind how the hive are earned rather than looking at earning as much as possible at all cost is the best way to go long term. It may also be a reason why many of the abusers often hit a wall when they try to point out your flaws when they're called out on abuse. Does that make me the best person to fight abuse? Not really, I often lose my cool after a while and the constant back and forth does get to me over time, cannot recommend. 

My point is, I think beneficiaries are quite a powerful tool and could do a lot of good if used well. I wish there'd be more authors on hive who also do well who'd do more with their rewards than just stack it for their own gain than to see who else who may not be in a good position as them could use it - and if that generally helps hive as a whole at the same time it'd be even more beneficial. 

Hence this post today, aside from my own projects like @poshtoken that's ran non-profit and is currently lacking liquidity for the @redditposh rewards or @zingtoken that's not really nonprofit but launched in a very fair way allowing anyone and everyone to get involved if they wanted, what else is there out there you'd consider forfeiting part of your author rewards to that you think would help hive? 

Forfeiting most of the author rewards of this post towards @commentrewarder, @zing.fund and @poshtoken.

Answering in a slightly different way! Some of the accounts I've found the most value from reading:
@buttcoins @shadowpubs @dalz @meno @edicted @bozz @antisocialist @ecoinstant @felt.buzz @slobberchops @solominer @tarazkp @hivetrending @enginwitty @jacobtothe @revisesociology @shanibeer @preparedwombat are a few that come to mind. This is by no means an exhaustive list - but I genuinely find some value in these accounts, and would likely read them on any given platform, and for wildly varying reasons.  As a side note I'd purchase a physical book from @felt.buzz if he had one for sell here.

I'll be the first to admit that I don't use the beneficiary system more. I think my alt account uses it by default many times, but it's not something I purposely pay attention to.  Even when I have plans to use it, I often find myself forgetting after the fact!

I think, it really depends on the amount one earns per post, like a small fish making 2-3 hives per post, wouldn't be really willing to drop 10-20% of the payout for something else, on the other hands if someone makes 50 hives per post and has a big account, it would be easier to drop a part of rewards... Like in real life with wages in the end

I'm thinking. Feel free to pushback please. 

If, let's say, you would become an autovote abuser yourself, that would not be at no cost. Yes, you would probably grow you account faster. But there's a possibility other things would happen to. 

In other words. If there's one thing that has helped you launch projects and secure support for them has been your ethics. People trust you. They've trusted you with money, directly with money, and this reputation that is not the number next to your username has taken a lot of work and patience.

So, imagine tomorrow you decide to burn the house. You press the "fuck this shit" button once and for all. And begin doing all the abusive behaviors you've been fighting. 

Some of the things that could happen:

* People would stop trusting you
* People could stop supporting your projects
* Undelegations left and right
* Potential downvotes from people
* Uncomfortable confrontations on Discord
* Dumping of Tokens (projects you've launched)

I have to emphasize the word <b>could</b>, because of course I'm no prophet either.

The point is that behaviors purchase us "social tokens" of a kind. Some people call it chips in the game, some people have different analogies. We all benefit from behaving in ways that give us chips in the game.

Someone who has "chips in the game" is intrinsically valuable to a community or even to a group of people, and thus the chips can be, and will be used, when the person is in need. Sometimes without that person having to ask. It's a wealth of a kind. 

So, although I agree with your points, I really do. I also think that you've gained in other ways. Its not like anyone can launch a project and secure support easily, you can, because you've proven yourself.

This doesn't mean everyone loves you either. Because we all have "enemies". I mean, not really, but the point is that we can't be liked by everyone. I sure had my share back when I was relevant here. 

I'm already making this comment too long. But this is why I'm excited to present moe's ideas. I sincerely believe it will help a lot towards allowing people to build a reputation, and value it. They will be able to see how they become valued. There's a psychological element here.

I think you hit the nail on the head when you said charity. 

A transparently run charity account that donated earned rewards to a specific well known and tracked cause might interest the greater Hive community to "divvy up" some rewards from time to time.

Mm, yes, we had A Dollar A Day back in the day, which supported a range of charities, co-ordinated by @pennsif, I believe, who didn't come over to Hive. The known charity we do have is @papilloncharity and their draw account @combination. It would be good if we could provide sustainable funding to the Ghana wells project and generally had a humanitarian fund. (It might be quickly overwhelmed).

Thanks, I followed that account for a very long time but honestly can't say I remember a single post talking/showing what the charity does. Had to mute at some point as they got a bit weird in the dm's/comments about author rewards iirc.

Greetings friend, I've been using commentrewarde. I just realized I have to upvote comments; I hadn't realized that. Also, since I don't have much voting power and my posts rarely reach $1, I thought I couldn't use it. Maybe I'll start using it more often in the future when my posts are more highly valued. Personally, I really enjoy @commentrewarder but I would need to write something actually interesting to have comments to reward 😃 I feel the engagement is quite low, and that might be in large part because a lot of large stakeholders don't reward comments that much and keep the rewards to themselves. 

I'm also not sure if people actually understands commentrewarder and how it works, and sometimes wonder if the UIs should be clearer in its usage. MAKE THAT THING POP OUT haha. Every post should give back to the people engaging with it imho.

Yeah, it's mainly just peakd utilizing it in the icon's I suppose. 

This thread was kind of a let down in terms of people coming up with some good examples of what I meant as well, guess it shows the lack of culture here of not just always thinking of how to maximize income through author rewards.
