Every Western country seems to have something in common: the presence of cities or areas where the architecture of 2 or more centuries ago is preserved. They are historical centers with "colonial-looking" buildings, as we usually say in Latin America. These sites, of course, attract a large number of local and foreign tourists looking to enjoy the atmosphere and the views they offer. In this post, I share with you photos from my recent visit to La Laguna, on the island of Tenerife, the largest of the Canary Islands.






La Laguna is that satellite city of the main city that many people like and want to visit in their free time. It has a cool climate and streets that encourage walking as they are boulevards with a large number of stores, bars, and fast food outlets. Most of the streets in the historic center are almost exclusively for pedestrians. However, it is curious to observe in some corners some defenses that were formerly used to prevent carriages from damaging the corners of the houses.





It is also a little curious that, in the past, San Cristóbal de La Laguna was the capital of the island, which over time became Santa Cruz de Tenerife, after this city expanded from the port to the seashore to connect with La Laguna, higher in height from the sea. This city somehow managed to preserve over time its architecture and ancient streets, becoming today one of the main tourist sites of the island. It has a quite pleasant climate at this time of the year, almost reaching summer. However, I have been told that in winter it is much colder. 





I must say that the historic center of La Laguna has a certain resemblance to some colonial areas of Venezuela, which inherited from Spain the same architecture in the times of the Spanish Empire. No need to go to any special tourist site, just go to any major city in Venezuela and you will find some old buildings of some resemblance. What is special about San Cristobal de La Laguna is that the degree of preservation is much higher and in greater quantity, which makes the whole city a great tourist site. 




   
I hope you enjoy these photos of the Casco Historico of La Laguna, it is always nice to bring Hive to new places and bring the world to Hive. This time I didn't have the opportunity or the occasion to take pictures of the Hive bag in La Laguna, but later it can be.

Todo país de occidente parece tener algo en común: presencia de ciudades o zonas en donde se preserva la arquitectura de hace 2 o más siglos. Son cascos históricos con edificios de "aspecto colonial", tal como solemos decir en Latinoamérica. Estos sitios, por supuesto, atraen una gran cantidad de turistas locales y extranjeros que buscan disfrutar del ambiente y las vistas que ofrecen. En esta publicación, les comparto fotos de mi visita reciente a La Laguna, en la Isla de Tenerife, la más grande de las Islas Canarias.






La Laguna es esa ciudad satélite de la ciudad principal que a muchos les gusta y desean visitar en su tiempo libre. Posee un clima fresco y calles que incentivan el caminar ya que se trata de bulevares con una gran cantidad de negocios, bares y venta de comida rápida. Gran parte de las calles del casco histórico son de uso casi exclusivo para peatones. Sin embargo, es curioso observar en algunas esquinas algunas defensas que antiguamente se utilizaban para evitar que los carruajes dañaran las esquinas de las casas.





Es un poco curioso también que, antiguamente, San Cristóbal de La Laguna era la capital de la isla, la cual a través del tiempo pasó a ser Santa Cruz de Tenerife, tras esta ciudad expandirse desde el puerto a las orillas del mar hasta conectarse con La Laguna, más elevada en altura respecto al nivel del mar. Esta ciudad de alguna manera logró conservar en el tiempo su arquitectura y antiguas calles, conviertiéndose hoy en día en uno de los principales sitios turísticos de la isla. Posee un clima bastante agradable a estas alturas del año, ya casi llegando el verano. Sin embargo, me han dicho que en invierno hay un frío mucho más importante. 





Debo decir que el casco histórico de La Laguna tiene cierto parecido con algunas zonas coloniales de Venezuela, las cuales heredaron de España la misma arquitectura en los tiempos del Imperio Español. No hace falta ir a algún sitio turístico especial, basta con ir a cualquier ciudad importante de Venezuela y encontrarás algún que otro edificio antiguo de cierto parecido. Lo especial en San Cristóbal de La Laguna es que el grado de conservación es mucho mayor y en mayor cantidad, lo que convierte a la ciudad entera en un gran sitio turístico. 




   
Espero disfrutes estas fotos del Casco histórico de La Laguna. Es siempre agradable llevar Hive a nuevos lugares y llevar el mundo a Hive. En esta ocasión no tuve la oportunidad o la ocasión para tomar fotos de la bolsa de Hive en La Laguna, pero luego podrá ser.
