Durante algunos días, en el recién terminado mes de diciembre, me dedique a descansar, a ver tele y aprovechar un poco más  la cuenta de Netflix y el dispositivo Roku que compre para disfrutarla, ya que practicante solo la uso para medio ver algo de vez en cuando y a la hora de dormir, así que un día o mejor dicho varios, me dije, me quedare un rato más a ver algunas películas, así entre las varias películas que vi encontré una muy entretenida titulada:

Esta película ambientada en la Gran Bretaña de finales del siglo XIX, narra las aventuras de una jovencita de 16 años, quien ante la desaparición de su madre le escribe a su hermanos, esta joven resulta ser la hermana menor del famoso detective Sherlock Holmes, así al llegar a la provincia en la que vivían, sus hermanos no la reconocen, lo que nos hace ver que es poco o nada lo que han compartido con ella, además de hacernos notar la diferencia entre ellos, su hermano mayor Mycroft Holmes, es el típico puritano de la época y se horroriza al ver que su hermana menor, no sigue las reglas de etiqueta y el comportamiento de una señorita impuesto para la sociedad de la época, como lo es por ejemplo el uso del corset, así ante un gran choque donde este decide que debe ser enviada a una institución para aprender etiqueta y así aspirar a encontrar un buen partido y casarse, Enola descubre que su madre le dejo una seria de pistas y la instruyo para que se valiera sola y decide escapar.

Esta película además de narrarnos las aventuras vividas por esta inteligente jovencita, quien escapa para buscar a su madre, luego nos muestra como ella decide que debe primero ayudar al joven marques Tewkesbury, quien es un joven de edad similar a la suya y que está totalmente ignorante de que desean asesinarlo.

Ahora bien, me encantaron varios aspectos, primero ver a una joven ser igual o más astuta y deductiva que su reconocido hermano, segundo ver como Sherlock disfruta ser que ella sea tan buena o mejor detective que él y tercero ver como ella va narrando la manera en la que su madre la preparado sin ella saberlo para lo que sería su vida, sin ella y para un mundo totalmente diferente al establecido para el momento.

En cuanto a las actuaciones la mejor para mi es la de la protagonista interpretada por Millie Bobby Brown, esta joven hace un papel que no recuerda mucho el modo deductivo y de análisis que caracteriza a su hermano mayor Sherlock, o lo que suelen presentarnos en las películas, quien aquí es interpretado por el guapísimo Henry Cavill, quien también interpreta muy bien su papel y nos muestra una faceta diferente de este personaje, como hermano mayor, quien en un comienzo duda en apoyar más a su hermana y luego se da cuenta de que es una joven excepcional y una mejor detective que él, además de que lo necesita, ya que logra en repetidas ocasiones engañarlo o adelantarse a él, otro gran actuación es la de Sam Claflin como Mycroft Holmes, el hermano mayor de Sherlock y Enola, quien es todo lo opuesto a ellos dos, un papel tan bien interpretado que a veces dan ganas de golpearlo por lo retrograda y machista que es, pero claro era el comportamiento de la época y lo interpreta a cabalidad, sin olvidar a Helena Bonham Carter, la madre de estos tres personajes quien a pesar de no tener un papel de muchas escenas es determinante en la película.

Aquí también lograron un trabajo genial, ya que se refleja perfectamente el Londres de la Revolución industrial, el vestuario se ajusta a la época, sobre todo cuando Enola para pasar desapercibida se viste como su hermano mayor no lo esperaría de ella, como una dama y acude a una tienda y compra un corsé de huesos de ballena y un vestido.

Aunque el final es bastante obvio hay cosas dentro de la trama que no te esperas y encantan, al mismo tiempo que como madre me enternecieron y me sentí identificada, pero en líneas generales y ya para despedirme es una película que te entretendrá, te hará reír y te mostrara otra parte y visión de la familia del investigador Holmes, antes de retirarme te comento que este personaje de Enola es la protagonista de una serie de libros escritos por Nancy Springer, ahora me retiro, esperando leer sus impresiones en el cajón de comentarios.

For a few days, in the recently finished month of December, I dedicated myself to rest, to watch TV and take a little more advantage of the Netflix account and the Roku device I bought to enjoy it, since I only use it to half watch something from time to time and at bedtime, so one day or rather several, I said to myself, I'll stay a while longer to watch some movies, so among the several movies I saw I found a very entertaining one titled:

This film set in Britain in the late nineteenth century, tells the adventures of a young girl of 16 years, who before the disappearance of his mother writes to his brothers, this young woman turns out to be the younger sister of the famous detective Sherlock Holmes, so to reach the province where they lived, his brothers do not recognize her, which makes us see that it is little or nothing they have shared with her, besides making us notice the difference between them, her older brother Mycroft Holmes, is the typical puritan of the time and is horrified to see that his younger sister, does not follow the rules of etiquette and behavior of a lady imposed for the society of the time, such as the use of the corset, so before a great shock where he decides that she should be sent to an institution to learn etiquette and thus aspire to find a good match and marry, Enola discovers that her mother left her a series of clues and instructed her to fend for herself and decides to escape.


This film narrates the adventures of this intelligent young girl, who escapes to find her mother, and then shows us how she decides that she must first help the young Marquess Tewkesbury, who is a young man of a similar age to her own and who is totally unaware that they wish to assassinate him. 


Now, I loved several aspects, first to see a young woman being equally or more astute and deductive than her renowned brother, second to see how Sherlock enjoys her being as good or better a detective than him and third to see how she narrates the way in which her mother prepared her without her knowing it for what her life would be like, without her and for a world totally different from the one established for the moment.

As for the performances the best for me is that of the protagonist played by Millie Bobby Brown, this young woman plays a role that is not very reminiscent of the deductive and analysis mode that characterizes her older brother Sherlock, or what they usually present us in the movies, who here is played by the very handsome Henry Cavill, who also plays his role very well and shows us a different facet of this character, as older brother, who at first hesitates to support his sister more and then realizes that she is an exceptional young woman and a better detective than him, Another great performance is that of Sam Claflin as Mycroft Holmes, the older brother of Sherlock and Enola, who is the complete opposite of the two of them, a role so well played that sometimes you feel like hitting him for how retrograde and macho he is, but of course it was the behavior of the time and he plays it to perfection, without forgetting Helena Bonham Carter, the mother of these three characters who despite not having a role of many scenes is decisive in the film.

Here they also achieved a great job, as it perfectly reflects the London of the Industrial Revolution, the costumes fit the era, especially when Enola to go unnoticed dresses as her older brother would not expect it from her, as a lady and goes to a store and buys a whalebone corset and a dress.

Although the ending is quite obvious there are things within the plot that you do not expect and love, at the same time that as a mother I was touched and I felt identified, but in general terms and already to say goodbye is a movie that will entertain you, will make you laugh and will show you another part and vision of the family of the investigator Holmes, before retiring I comment that this character of Enola is the protagonist of a series of books written by Nancy Springer, now I retire, waiting to read your impressions in the comments box.

Recuerdo haber visto esta película hace algunos meses, la actuación de Millie como Enola me pareció más que estupenda. No es que sea fan de las películas de detective, pero tanto las de Sherlock Holmes como esta las disfruté muchísimo.

Lo más cautivante a mi parecer fue toda esa preparación que Enola recibió de su madre sin siquiera ella notarlo hasta llegado el momento del uso de sus dotes. Ha sido un buen resumen y opinión sobre esta película aunque si me hablas de ciencia ficción me decanto mucho más. Gracias por compartirlo Cristina, sin duda una buena recomendación para el que aún no la ha visto.

Esa parte también me gusto y mucho, uno la va observando a lo largo d ele película y como padres uno se identifica mas, al igual que tu amo la ciencia ficción y la fantasía, son los géneros que mas disfruto, por cierto fe a cine a ver Matrix resurrecciones no me gusto.
