Road to Rosarito: A Little Mexican Adventure for HiveFest 8?
**Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water…**

As you may have seen, [the big announcement](https://peakd.com/hivefest/@hivefest/save-the-date-hivefest-2023-22-26-september-rosarito-mexico-ola-surfista) that stirs many a Hivean has been, well, announced. That being this year's version of the conference, celebration and extravaganza that is [HiveFest](https://hivefe.st/).

Admittedly, I haven't been all that active around here recently for one reason and another but always worth dipping in and there tends to be a sense of excitement around this event. It makes it all more real and helps to remind us of what we're striving for, whether you manage to make it to Mexico or not. 

Yes, the event has made its way to the Americas. There was rumour of it being in Central or South America this year and here we are. There have been several iterations in Europe, one in Asia (Bangkok) as well as a couple of virtual events when we couldn't meet in person. 

As for me, I've been fortunate enough to attend 2 of these epic meetups - those being [SteemFest 2 in Lisbon](https://peakd.com/steemfest/@adambarratt/steemfest-reflections-deliciously-creamy-delightfully-steemy-and-lusciously-lisbon-part-1) and last year's [HiveFest in Amsterdam](https://peakd.com/hive-106258/@adambarratt/hivefest-reflections-going-dutch) (first IRL event as *Hive* and the 7th overall). Last year was about getting the show back on the road after the enforced break, and this year will be about building on that and creating something special on a fresh continent.

Whether I can actually make it this time is another matter entirely. I do hope so, but there are plenty of logistics to sort, not to mention the financial aspect. I'll certainly be looking into it and giving it my best shot. Not only for the event itself but I've never been to the region, so it would be an amazing experience. 

Roeland and the team are sure to put on another top notch fiesta, and what a fun and interesting experience it promises to be. If you can, get yourself over!

It will be in Rosarito, a coastal city in the north-west of Mexico (close to the US border) and takes place September 22nd-26th.

So maybe time to have a look forward to the end of September and make some plans!
