For me I took a while, as I was beguiled by progressive issues like ending the Vietnam war and Earth Day.  Ann Rand never helped. Basically when I kept seeing both parties having WAY too much interest in things they had no right to know, and both parties never accomplishing issues that I felt were morally imperative, I looked around. Initially it was just the lesser evil (the two oligarchies and the Libertarians) but actually the advent of decentralized cryptocurrency gave me the first glimmer that the oppression could be lifted through a combination of potent action and community building. Still on my way to having my thoughts freer but looking forward to more and more freedom.

I see the parasitic scum paraded as politicians and faceless entities run by greedy elites ruining our world and by design, so that when we inherit it, there is nothing left, and we beg the government for everything. Well I ain't buying into that shit!

Since 2011, when I was given time to do my own self investigating, and saw for the first time, I was 19, in my own eyes that 9/11 was a huge false flag. Tried convincing everyone I knew, had all sorts of reactions like you describe above.

Nothing has been more difficult tho, than to convince my father and other old men his age that it was a false flag. They are so in bed with the lies.... but Love conquers all, so I keep trying.

Good on you Adam, for having such strong influence to help shape this world for the better! Freedom! Who doesn't want true freedom!? Only those who are still blind to the truth...

**People say they want Freedom, but do they really want it?**

If we think about it, obviously democracy is the best political system right now, but the reality is that if the state does not intervene in society, people get *lost* and without knowing what to do, they need someone to show them the paths to take.

This is very polemic theme, because obviously we want freedom in theory, but when we are free we get confused and we (society) seek for counseling.

I read your words line by line and it gave me a glimpse of how your fight for freedom began.  I am a Nigerian, but I know we need to embrace this fight for freedom in Nigeria and all over the world.  Lucky you to have such beautiful parents with distinct personalities,like you said it has helped you to become what you are today.  Thank you for being you.

Quite an interesting article. It was a good read.

I also was a punk growing up rebelling against popular culture and authorities. My older next door neighbor was always trashing pop music which led me to start broadening my musical horizons. I discovered a few bands such as Guttermouth and Anti-Flag while also discovering skateboarding. The seed had been planted, but it took quite a long time for the seed to sprout and grow. 

I was very anti-authority when it came to teachers, principles, business owners, and cops because of skateboarding. I had a hard time shaking the nationalism and militarism though.

I found Ron Paul after a co-worker had recommended I watch Zeitgeist and America - From Freedom To Fascism. Ron Paul was the only politician who made sense to me. Thus began my real dive down the rabbit hole. 

While preparing to sleep on the floor in an old farmhouse, with a bunch of other Ron Paul delegates for the MN state Convention in 2012, one of my new friends mentioned this crazy Adam Kokesh guy. He might be a little crazy for my tastes I was told. So of course, I had to look him up. 

I began listening to Adam VS The Man and watching the associated youtube videos. It took a few months to get the statist out of me, but Adam guided the way. 

The message of Freedom has meant a lot to me and I cannot thank Adam enough! Anarchy, Love, and Peace to you!

Wow. What a read. I guess freedom from servitude is fine for me which is why I embraced crypto to avoid govt controlling my income and taxation which I see as reapoff. Does that make me a libertarian ?

When I was in High School I was a Communist. At least I said I was. I really just liked the shock value. Once I read something about it I decided I was not. When I was deciding to vote in my first election a friend of mine said, “you should check out the Libertarians, they want to legalize pot.” I was sold and voted a straight Libertarian ticket, except president. I didn’t want to “waste" my presidential vote so I voted for Bill Clinton. After that I did not really care about anything political until September 11th 2001. Those planes hitting those buildings scared the shit out of me. I had 2 children at the time and I fell for the fear tactics hook line and sinker. I became a Neo-Con. I had always been fiscally conservative. Now I was terrified and bought into the nationalistic bullshit that I heard all over the radio every day. I also had always been quite liberal when it came to social issues and I was far from Christian in my religious beliefs, but I put that aside and followed the Republican line. I then remarried. Amber my wife is a Libertarian. Going into the 2012 elections I was a Michelle Bachman supporter, I know. My wife liked the old guy on the stage. So, I listened to all of them and slowly the old guy, Ron Paul, crept up my favorites list. It was easy to agree with him on many things for me. Truthfully it was his position on the Fed that really caught my attention. The final piece was war. I remember the day I realized I had been duped. I cried into my wife's shoulder as guilt turned to anger. How could I be so dumb. You see I read a lot and I liked people such as Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry, and John Locke. I became a local warrior for Ron Paul and began working for a local candidate for the house who supported Dr. Paul. I read Mises, Rothbard… you get the idea. After both Ron Paul and my candidate lost and my wife and I saw first hand the corruption in the Gop, I decided to not deal with politics at all. I continued to evolve first into a minarchist and eventually into an anarchist. In 2016 I told my wife, while watching a video on youtube of this guy I had discovered and began following in 2012, that I would only vote again if that guy ran for president. I never expected that I would meet him about a year later as he was preparing to run for president. That man was Adam Kokesh. Now I am working for his campaign and doing my part to share the message. Meeting him was better than I expected. I expected him to be full of himself. He was not. He was about Freedom and he inspired me to join the new American Evolution.

I was a conservative, and started questioning the war on drugs. 
'We' weren't winning, but there was this mentality that if we let our guard down, the drugs would come flooding in (all by themselves) and ruin everyone's lives.
I realised most of the people I knew who abused drugs already had ruined lives, and figured maybe attacking them might be a bad way of helping them. 
If you're curious and brave, you'll get here eventually.

Thanks for sharing your background on how it all started. Enjoyable read! I always find it interesting on what people's parents are like, and how they respond to their children's philosophies on life and how they respond to it all.

When I finished high school, I was pretty much a socialist. Then (believe it or not), higher education started changing me when, in college, I switched to social sciences. In economics, my professor showed me the great advantages of free trade and how it lifted people out of poverty.

During my bachelor degree, I further saw how free(er) markets helped society, thanks to having half my professors being classical liberals.

My position was cemented when I read all those authors (Smith, Bastiat, Say, Mises)

FREEDOM wasn't something that you may truly enjoy from my side here. Culture and traditions of most African tribes preaches devoted submission to the "authorities" regardless of their true character. You are just expected to be a follower, an obedient one.

However, from some of the songs by Fela Kuti (The Pioneer of the AfroBeat genre), I came to be fascinated by what TRUE Freedom is and will be. I was exposed to some shitty corruption against humanity, freedom and good governance.

My Dad, who is not particularly interested in politics or sorts, is a definition of freedom.  He'll leave us to make decisions and choices, written down in our pads and presented to him at the dinner table for accountabilities. It was some crazy memories. 

Then he will asked us (the children) to judge our decisions whether they are morally, ethically and socially sound. We'll debates and defends our choices vehemently with each other while he moderates the sessions. It was my foundation of being responsible and truly free. 

And @adamkokesh, I hope I'll be able to get a hard copy of your book here. It'll mean a lot.

Took me all of 15 minutes listening to Ron Paul in the the debates 6 years ago to know that I strongly agreed with everything he said on war, the drug war, central banks, individual liberty,  and personal responsibility. Then after an hour of research to realize that my once beloved Democratic party was not anti war, anti drug war, anti central banks, pro individual liberty nor even truly liberal. Then I was all in libertarian 100% and never looked back.

I've never trusted anyone because I have always felt like I'm getting coerced, controlled, and extorted.  It always angered me.  I have always been able to see the inconsistencies of government, but when I read Adams book it created a much more compressed, concise, and clear perspective to the whole thing.  Learning to let go of that anger and turn it into knowledge and information was the best experience I have ever felt.  Ignorance is bliss?  No, the truth will set you free, and freedom is much more blissful.  I've been fighting to get the freedom to do the things I want most of my life... Still fighting.
