The tightness test is the pressurization of part of the pipeline to determine its condition. It detects the presence of leaks in sewerage pipe networks. In the case of sanitary plumbing, this test aims to analyze the pipes in detail, to ensure that they are working properly. For a successful test, the experts simply have to meet the standards imposed in the execution of the test. The test result is decrypted only by a qualified professional in the field.

Who can perform a leak test?

Unlike some plumbing interventions that you can do yourself, the leak test must be carried out by a professional. This can be a licensed plumber, or a sanitation expert. The professional performs the test using specific, high-quality equipment. Since the pipes are not always easily accessible, the professional must adopt precise techniques. In addition to the techniques, he must intervene with high quality and efficient equipment, specially dedicated for this kind of test.

What are the purposes of a leak test?

This type of test not only makes it possible to check the tightness of the pipes, but also to guarantee the transport of waste water. Carrying out this test also prevents the infiltration of parasitic water. In fact, during the test, each section, each access structure, and each branch connection are all thoroughly tested. In reality, if the pipe network is not watertight, there is a risk of soil pollution and root penetration. A lack of tightness can also cause the collapse of the ground, or even the total degradation of the installation.
