Hello, friends of @adsactly

<div class="text-justify">In these times when we are worried about what kind of planet we are leaving to our children, there are already some who are changing that premise for the one that says: What kind of children are we leaving to the world? What is fundamental at this moment is that we are not only leaving a chaotic and polluted world, but we are also forming citizens who do nothing, or almost nothing, to save what little is left.

#

The famous violist Yehudi Menuhin says: "If I had to sum up the twentieth century, I would say that it raised the greatest hopes ever conceived by humanity, and destroyed all illusion and ideals. Apparently, the last century, and this one just beginning, is full of disappointments motivated by the death of many ideals. To speak of everything that was dreamt and thought could happen in the last century and this, perhaps is to speak of a chimera, an epiphany or a great promise. In societies there was the idea and the yearning for political, economic, social, artistic and scientific consolidation, but we have only seen chaos, crisis, violence, dehumanization. On the one hand we live with a permanent yearning and hope, but on the other hand we live with bewilderment and depression. A world that instead of going forward, each day regresses in many aspects.

Last week, as I was reading the headlines of the world press, I saw how the confrontation between Turkey and Syria, the trade war between China and the United States of America and the internal war in Ecuador occupied large spaces. If we check the news portals daily we will find that the conflicts are maintained, sharpened and that within the news panorama there is no greater news to applaud. Apparently, we are sooner and more busy damaging the world than taking care of it or doing something to save it from sinking into the pipe. We are a handful of men with erroneous guides or without guides, and very especially without methods.

#

For example, we live in an age in which good and evil have been distorted, and can even converge on the same sidewalk and in the same action. It is true that we can say that there are inventions that are really an advance or progress for humanity, but that in the hands of the devil are dangerous, almost deadly and have forced us to rethink the principles of ethics. That is why we live in an era that maintains apocalyptic tones, threatened or sheltered by corruption, violence and disasters. Disasters, even natural ones, never seen before.

On this subject, in the book **_Preludes_** by the Venezuelan writer **Alejandro Oliveros**, the poem **XVIII** says:

>What will be our inheritance in these indigent times?
Voids of clarity deserts of transparency,
 of altars and prayers.
…
What will be our legacy in these stripped times?
of splendor?
Heaven in ruins, my daughter, we inherited and left.
…
He abandoned our soul halfway.
Look for it in the geranium. Recover its sweetness in the eyes
of the cat,
in the fleeting pain of his scratch.
Go and catch her in the night in love.
Don't let her run away. Don't lose her.

#

I must point out that Oliveros' poem is not completely transcribed, but these verses capture the meaning of the whole poem: What will be our inheritance in these times? On the one hand, it tells us about the time when we only turn to God when we feel we are being punished, about a time when more than leaving positive things behind, we destroy the positive things that exist, but very especially it tells us what our salvation can be, what we lost and what we must rescue: our soul. Apparently, the human being has lost his essence, the capacity to feel, to suffer and especially, to pity the other, to put himself in his place and from there, to speak.

Some time ago I was reading the news that a family in Holland had spent nine years in a basement waiting for the end of the world. The eldest son, 25 years old, managed to escape and it was he who denounced what was happening. I don't know if this is the solution to so many calamities that exist in today's world: to lock oneself in one's house or to put one's head in a hole, like an ostrich, until the end of the world arrives. What I do believe is that difficult times are approaching: to love and to feel is urgent.

Very good reflection you present us in your post, @nancybriti. These are times of hardship, as the poet Holderlin said, which come from afar and have been accentuated. It has been said that there has been a "disenchantment of the world", which would respond to the loss of contact with the origin, the foundation, the sacred ... which could be synthesized in the word "soul". Therefore, much of the task is the recovery of the soul, of meaning.
Thank you for your post. Greetings.

Centuries of disenchantment! Well, Adorno said: "After Auschwitz there is no poetry". Thank you for commenting, @josemalavem.
