# What is Billion Tree Tsunami?

With the rise in global warming scientists have urged to plant more trees to counter this uprising trend in the global warming.

Former Cricketer now Chairman of Pakistan Tehrek-e- Insaf party Imran Khan launched a green initiative in 2015 to plant Billion tree Tsunami in Pakistan's province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa ( KP), in an effort to restore forests lost to natural disasters and years of tree-cutting, and by now they have reached this milestone in August 2017, by planting more than billion trees.

The Billion Tree Tsunami aims to slow down the effects of global warming in Pakistan which ranks seventh on the list of countries most likely to be effected by climate change.
