WE WERE WRONG ABOUT VOUCHERS

Now that we've had a couple of days to digest the Chaos Legion general sale and aftermath, one thing I've been reflecting on was how wrong we were when it came to vouchers.

Halfway through the pre-sale and phase 2, the narrative shifted to vouchers being needed to meter out packs so the whales would not buy them all. This was further justified once the bulk sale was announced.

Well here we are with less than half packs sold. We were wrong.

Chaos Legion ended up being a lot bigger than most expected, and the player base much smaller than most expected. It may take some time until we do sell out, although you can never count out whales coming in to scoop things up when you least expect it.

So what does this mean for the future of vouchers?

Riftwatchers isn't a great example due to it being a mini set with only 3M packs. But I can see a counter-argument being made now that packs don't need to be metered. Instead, vouchers may serve only as a pre-sale function that rewards those who are staking SPS. Time will tell but I feel that Aggroed may lose the battle to make Riftwatchers 100% vouchers due to this.

Keep in mind as well, we've been told additional utility is coming to vouchers so we shouldn't discount that. But as of now, they are still around and helping for bonus packs in the general sale!

I read it more as there was a big drop in price across all assets during the first two phases. If SPS was still at $.5 and DEC was still at $0.01, I think it'd have sold out pretty much immediately. Anecdotally, I put in ~8k, and it dropped to about 4k so I was only able to buy 1k instead of 2k packs.

That's a good point, I'm sure many people had parked their CL pack money in SPS and DEC and with those going down tremendously that didn't help. But that is the reality we live in, which means there is actually no outside money coming in at the moment.
