Sometimes inspiration hits like a lightning bolt.  That happened to me when I saw @shaka's remarkable template photo this week.  What I saw was so clear that I was sure others would come up with the same idea.  I'll have to check and see if that is true. I think now that you have seen my collage, it will likely be clear how this idea came to me. 

**Valleys Flooding**
The idea for the flood came from current events, mostly, and also from an awareness of mythology.  In one [Mayan myth,](https://mayansandtikal.com/mayan-gods/chaac/) for example, the god Chaac weeps tears of regret and this causes rain.  Chaac has committed adultery with his brother's wife.

The idea of rivers forming and flooding the valley below reflects what happens with the spring snow melt in the age of climate change.  Water flows with little resistance and with such speed/force that it overwhelms areas below the mountain.  This happened recently in [Yellowstone Park](https://www.kiro7.com/news/trending/melting-snowpack-rain-flood-yellowstone-national-park/GFZM4EPKTRA5RIVOSAF3FJ5GL4/) (USA), and last year [snow melt contributed](https://www.wane.com/news/snow-melt-rain-causing-widespread-flooding-in-germany/) to devastating flooding in Germany.

Once I saw the man in the mountain, I had to share my vision.  So I started with the beard and drew what I imagined, using GIMP paintbrushes.  I wanted my mountain man to have a little paunch.  I hope that came through :)

After I gave mountain man a nose, defined eyes, and  shoes,  I needed a teardrop so he could cry convincingly. Thank you, @quantumg for contributing that wonderful teardrop to LIL.

I needed a picture of water, to pool in mountain man's lap and to form a stream and valley flood. Thank you @muelli for contributing that water to LIL.

After I created mountain man, and added tears and water, I was ready to make layers for the animation.  I needed to synchronize the tears so the flow would be convincing as these pooled in mountain man's lap. The pool had to brim over, then flow in a rivulet down the mountain until the rivulet became a flood in the valley.

It took a bunch of layers to do that :)

I have participated in LMAC contests almost from the beginning.  Nowadays, I don't compete. I just make collages for fun. It is amazing what @shaka has created here: an opportunity for people to participate in the Hive community and an invitation to create.
