De la mano de los productores de **"Boys don´t cry"** , otro caso de la vida real que me hizo llorar, tal vez hable en otra reseña, nace esta macabra película donde se refleja no solo lo que vivo esta joven de 17 años en ese entonces sino tambien, como una persona decide desquitar su ira y frustraciones en alguien que jamás le hizo daño y peor aun, ramificar este odio en otras personas.

This crime was classified as one of the most heinous and infamous in American history which, decades later in 2007, would inspire this movie that I will talk about today. I will not tell you what they did to Sylvia to avoid giving you spoilers, for that, you can watch the movie or directly read a journalistic article on ["The Horrible Crime of Sylvia Likens"](https://www.infobae.com/sociedad/2021/01/31/el-macabro-asesinato-de-sylvia-likens-adolescente-abusada-y-torturada-por-todo-un-vecindario/) to get an idea of what this girl experienced at the hands of people without scruples and with evil running through their veins.

From the producers of **"Boys don't cry"**, another real-life case that made me cry, maybe I'll talk about it in another review, this macabre movie is born where it reflects not only what this 17-year-old young woman went through at that time but also how a person decides to unleash their anger and frustrations on someone who never harmed them and worse, to spread this hatred to others.

Un elenco excelente llevado de la mano de Tommy O'Haver de forma precisa con toques del mundo onírico para darle mas dramatismo del que ya tiene al asunto combinándose con el mundo real de forma exquisitamente deprimente.

Se trabaja desde dos puntos de vista lo cual, la hace aún más desgarradora. Por un lado la víctima y por el otro, testimonio de victimario el cual, agrega más dolor a la historia porque te das cuenta que al fin y al cabo, nadie sabe porque pasó lo que pasó con la pobre chica que solo estaba en el lugar, momento y con las personas equivocadas a su alrededor.

Elliot Page portrays Sylvia Likens and Catherine Keener plays Gertrude Baniszewski, her tormentor, alongside a stellar cast including Evan Peters and James Franco.

A stellar cast led by Tommy O'Haver precisely, with touches of the dreamlike world to add even more drama to the already dramatic subject, combining with the real world in an exquisitely depressing way. 

It works from two perspectives, making it even more gut-wrenching. On one hand, the victim, and on the other, the perpetrator's testimony, adding more pain to the story because you realize that in the end, no one knows why what happened to the poor girl happened, who was simply in the wrong place, at the wrong time, surrounded by the wrong people.

Una película que narra los hechos tal y como fueron mostrándonos, la cara más oscura de la humanidad y como los demás, en apariencia inocentes, se dejan llevar a ese lado sombrío el cual, se quedara con ellos de por vida en sus conciencias si es que la tienen.


Ambientada en una época donde los padres le confiaban a cualquiera sus hijos , donde aparentemente no pasaba nada y termina pasando lo peor. 

La felicidad de Sylvia al principio opacada luego por la desgracia repentina  sin sentido alguno, la impotencia por no poder huir y la de su hermana por observar lo que hacen con su hermana mayor y quedarse inmóvil por el miedo de que le hagan lo mismo, todo es un cóctel perfecto para espantarte y hacerte llorar pensando que quizá, en algún lugar del mundo, alguien este viviendo algo parecido (Si, a mi me hizo llorar sobre todo, la escena final que es terriblemente desgarradora, deprimente).

A movie that tells us the facts as they were shown, the darkest side of humanity and how others, seemingly innocent, are led to that dark side which will stay with them for life in their consciences if they have them.

Set in a time when parents entrusted their children to anyone, where apparently nothing happened and ends up with the worst happening.

Sylvia's happiness at first overshadowed by the sudden senseless misfortune, the powerlessness of not being able to escape, and that of her sister by watching what they do to her older sister and remaining motionless out of fear that the same will happen to her, it is all a perfect mixture to scare you and make you cry thinking that maybe, somewhere in the world, someone is living something similar (Yes, it made me cry especially, the final scene which is terribly heartbreaking, depressing).

Un crimen Americano o simplemente el encierro, es una película cruda que cuenta el crimen sin sentido de una adolescente llena de sueños, con una vida por delante que le fue arrebatada por unos demonios que se cruzaron en su camino. Una película no apta para todos así que si eres sensible, no la veas.

A pesar de tener muchas malas criticas por carecer de sentido este film, ciertamente, es la esencia del crimen real el cual como dije, carece de sentido alguno. Si ven la película y comparan con el caso real, entenderán que está plasmada perfectamente , contada de la mano de quienes cometen un acto deshumanizado solo por condicionamiento o diversión, como ya dije, sin sentido.

An American Crime or simply confinement, is a raw film that tells the senseless crime of a teenage girl full of dreams, with a life ahead of her that was taken away by demons who crossed her path. A movie not suitable for everyone so if you are sensitive, do not watch it.

Despite receiving many bad reviews for lacking sense, this film certainly captures the essence of real crime which, as I said, lacks any sense. If you watch the movie and compare it to the real case, you will understand that it is perfectly portrayed, told by those who commit a dehumanized act solely out of conditioning or entertainment, as I said, senseless.
