<div class="text-justify">In a 1920's Czech language play of Karel Čapek, Rossumovi Univerzální Roboti – Rossum's Universal Robots, a new word robot was introduced to the world which was going to change the world in the future. Much ahead of him, Babu Devki Nandan Khatri, an Indian novelist in his novel series of 1880s, named ‘Chandrakanta’ and ‘Chandrakanta Santati’, had fancied about the humanoid machines capable of working like humans and some of them were even capable of talking to men. Nobody had idea how robots would change our life in the future.

Robots are machines which can work like us. They are designed in different forms as per the requirement of the work. Most of the robots have computers inside them to control them. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the capacity of the computers to learn and adapt itself to the changing situation. It’s a branch of science which enables computers and programs to mimic human thinking. So, when the computer programs are capable of doing so, they are known as AI programs. Machine learning (ML) is the field enabling machines to learn. AI and ML are deeply associated. AI has evolved significantly in the recent years. Now we have programs capable of outperform humans. Alpha zero, a computer program is capable of defeating every human chess grand masters on this planet. Chat GPT is the latest AI program which can interact with us such as if we are chatting to a real human being. There are so many AI programs which are being used worldwide and we are astonished to see their capabilities and learning power.
**Advantages**
AI is widely used in the business processes. Companies are using AI tools to streamline their business processes and customer handling. In this way they are able to provide quality services to their customers and also saving their revenue.
AI can work for hours (24x7) without getting bored and it never gets tired. So, it can do such work which are boring and repetitive for human beings. It can work fast and with great accuracy and can learn from its mistakes.
AI has advanced features and it is enhancing our knowledge significantly. It can create arts, write articles, can interpret laws more accurately than its human counterparts. It can process large data which is beyond the capacity of the humans. Chat gpt is even capable of write computer codes.
**Disadvantages**
There are many disadvantage as well. AI has no emotions and thus has no creativity. It works mainly through its databases and libraries. It can’t predict the outcome of some action as we do. It still lacks real intelligence. But, the worst impact is has is on the employment. It is making people jobless. It can handle the work of thousands of the people and can be used for content writing, art creation, stocks and crypto market trading, customer care activities, virtual assistant, news reading and many more. That’s why it is capable of snatching thousands of such jobs which are done by humans. This will make life of all of us very miserable because the whole economy revolves around exchanging of money from one person to another. So, it may create an economic disaster.
But, this is not the end. It is being used to control social media. Social media controlling programs are being used in such a way that they are fostering particular types of ideologies and shutting the mouth of those who have opposite thinking. For example in India, Facebook is restricting those content and accounts which are anti-ruling party. Their accounts are being restricted and even banned while whatever the supporters of the ruling party say, are never restricted. So, it can be used by the authoritarian regimes to control the citizens. This may bring an era of perpetual authoritarianism and dictatorship. Our independence and liberty is in danger.
**Can it destroy us?**
This question is very important. It can do so. We are developing robotic soldiers who will be equipped with AI. They are being developed in the name of saving human lives but ultimately those will be used to eliminate humans as destroying robots won’t make any impact on the opposition side. Without eliminating enemies war cannot conclude. But, ultimately those robots may be so capable and bloodthirsty that they may think about to eliminate humans for once and all so that they may rule the world. It may also be possible that they may destroy humans as they may think that the humans are bad for this world as they are the wickedest of all the living creatures. But, I have another idea. I think they would replace us, not because they will destroy us, but because of our own limitations. With limited physical capacities we are not able to travel out of our world. Robots can do it. So, they may be the futuristic intelligent creatures capable of fathoming those territories of the universe which is beyond our capabilities.</div>
