Lately, I've embarked on a more deliberate journey towards memorizing a variety of physical exercises, including morning yoga, basic Pilates, muscle strengthening workouts, and all-encompassing stretching routines. This initiative is rooted in my belief that while following along with exercise videos is great, the true magic happens when you can weave these movements into your daily life, alongside other activities, or even in moments of stillness, much like meditation. The thought of starting my day with yoga as the sun rises, or unwinding with stretches in the evening's calm, all without the glare of a screen, is deeply appealing.

Additionally, my mornings are often brightened by the release of a new episode from my favorite Japanese podcast. On those days, I treat myself to a longer yoga and stretching session while soaking in the podcast's stories. Visual distractions tend to break my focus, but with podcasts, I find myself more immersed in the physicality of the exercises, fully engaged in strengthening and stretching my body.

On the flip side, for more structured Pilates sessions, video guidance is invaluable. It not only helps correct any misunderstandings I might have about the movements but also facilitates the memorization process. This memorization isn't purely mental; my body learns the movements, becoming flexible and capable of adapting and extending the exercises to fit my mood or the day's requirements, allowing for longer, more personalized sessions.

In our internet-saturated world, it may seem odd to prepare for times without video assistance, yet memorizing these routines empowers me to practice them anytime, anywhere. This underscores the timeless importance of internalizing exercises in both mind and body, even when digital resources are at our fingertips.

This journey has taught me the value of internalizing physical movements, enhancing not just physical agility but mental resilience as well, fostering a deeper, more personal connection to wellness practices. It's a reminder of how integrating these exercises into our daily lives can make wellness a more natural, accessible part of our routine.

You might wonder about the difficulty of memorizing exercises. Initially, I shared that skepticism. However, dedicating a few days to a week of practice while following video tutorials can lead to a surprising outcome: the fundamental movements become second nature.

Moreover, this process of memorization doesn't just enhance our fitness routines; it enriches our ability to multitask and find harmony in our daily lives. By integrating exercise into various parts of our day, we can achieve a balanced lifestyle that incorporates physical health, mental well-being, and productivity.

The same thing can be said for other things. For example, when we memorize how to cook, we don't always need cooking videos and so on.

As we gear up for the weekend, let's embrace the challenge of memorizing our favorite exercises, transforming them into an integral part of our daily lives. Remember, the journey towards wellness is not just about the physical accomplishments but also about fostering a mindset that embraces growth, learning, and flexibility.

最近、朝ヨガと基本的なピラティス、筋トレ、ストレッチを意識して暗記していっています。

というのも、動画を見ながらのエクササイズもよいのですが、何もしない瞑想のような行為も含め、他のことと並行してできたらいいなと思ったからです。たとえば、早起きしてする朝ヨガや、夜のストレッチはスクリーンをつけずに静かな中でしたいです。

あと、朝起きて、お気に入りの日本のポッドキャストがリリースされていることが多く、そんな朝はポッドキャストを聴きながら少し長めに朝ヨガとストレッチをします。私は目を使ってしまうとそこまで集中できないのですが、ポッドキャストなら聴きながら筋トレやストレッチにも集中できる気がします。

一方で、日中にしっかりピラティスをする時には動画を見ながらします。自分の思い込みでしてしまっているところを修正できるし、暗記の助けにもなります。

暗記すると脳だけでなく、体自体も動作を覚えて、柔軟にアレンジできるようになるので、気分に合わせて長くすることもできるようになります。エクササイズを覚えるのは難しいと思うかもしれません。私もそう思っていましたが、やってみると意外とできました。数日間から一週間ほど、エクササイズを覚えることを意識して動画を見ながらエクササイズをすると、基本的な動きを覚えていることに驚くはずです。

このインターネット時代に動画を見られないなんて状況はなかなかないかもしれませんが、覚えておくといつでもどこでもできるのもよさそうです。こんな時代にも脳と体で暗記するのって大事だなと実感するのでした。

I agree.

I listened to a podcast yesterday about how to read poetry - it had similar ideas about how to bring the poem into your life, absorb it, so it opens to you. There's you, the poem, and eventually a new thing of you+thepoem.
