My calendula ointment is done! / カレンデュラの軟膏ができました

Around one month ago I was preparing calendula petals to make calendula ointment at a a workshop hosted by a NZ based Japanese gardener [Tia](https://www.instagram.com/tia_botanical_lifestyle/) I got to know on Instagram around one year ago.

In the first part of the workshop, I learnt about calendula and its benefit, crushed the petals and soaked in oil. I enjoyed not only the making part but also the botanical lecture. For me that was the great part of the workshop hosted by a gardener.

The oil is ready after a month. I had the second part of the workshop to finish the ointment last weekend.

My daughter wanted to take part in the workshop as last time. She also had fun time helping me and seeing others on screen. She was happy to have her small ointment in the end. She spread it on her body and on mine and her papas. 

I am glad that I could learn how to make multi use ointment with really less ingredients:  Oil, bee wax, calendula petals and essential oil (optional). It will be a life long knowledge for two generation, for me and my daughter.

I look forward to make the ointment again when calendula flowers are ready in my garden in summer.

全二回のワークショップの前半ではカレンデュラやその効能について勉強して、オイルにカレンデュラの成分を抽出する準備をしました。個人的には、園芸が大好きなので、軟膏を作るだけでなくカレンデュラに関するレクチャーがあったのがとてもよかったです。

一ヶ月かけてオイルを作って、先週末のワークショップ後半で軟膏が完成しました。温度計をのぞいたり、一緒に作りたいという子どもがわちゃわちゃするのを制したり、あたふたしていて写真がありません😅

子どもは自分の軟膏ができたことに大喜びで、自分だけでは飽き足らず私や父ちゃんにも塗って歩いていました。かさかさしていないのに塗りたがるほどです。

数年前にスクラブを砂糖とオイルのミックスに変えて、日々使うクリームをこのカレンデュラの軟膏に変えて、ボディケアがシンプルになるのがとてもうれしいです。秘伝のクリームなので、詳細は書きませんが、材料はカレンデュラの花びらと、オイル、ビーワックス、精油のみです。食べ物だったら絶対買わない・食べないくらい、謎の材料が入っている化粧品やボディケア用品を見直すよいきっかけになりました。あと、私と子ども、二世代かその先まで人生で使えるレシピになるのもいいなあと。

夏には庭に咲いたカレンデュラで軟膏作りに挑戦したいです。

Very nice. How is the process? I only know one way to do it, as my grandmother taught me. It's with lard and takes only one night. Very powerful healing salve, I will make some again this summer.

Ja it was so nice. First I prepared dried calendula petals (I used organic tea this time) and soaked them in oil for about a month. I warmed up the oil and mixed it with bee wax. Then it's done!

It's great that your grandma taught it to you. I'm happy to hand down the technique to my grand daughter in the future 😊

Thank you, i will try that method this year too. Mine is very simple: Collect fresh petals / flowers (My grandma took the flowers but you can even use the whole plant), heat up lard and wait until it's still liquid but not so hot anymore as to not fry the petals. Stir them under and let it cool over night (or 3), warm up until liquid again then sieve out the plants. Voilà! 
Beewax however and soaking in oil slowly for a month sounds very natural to me, going to try that method. What kind of oil did you take?
