This week was a week of complaining 😅 But this post is not only about complaining. I will share what I learned too.

I was stunned when I couldn't exchange a gift card, which was supposed to be exchangeable for various store gift cards. I wanted to exchange it for an Amazon gift card. When I didn't find Amazon gift card in the selection, it left me quite shocked, prompting me to send a complaint to the service. Honestly, I felt it was almost like a scam if the exchange wasn't possible. However, I know that aggressively complaining rarely solves anything, so I wrote a very calm and friendly message. Although it took some time, the customer support (or was it an AI!?) handled the issue meticulously, and it was resolved in the end.

Another incident involved a delivery service from a drugstore where a liquid detergent leaked. Thankfully, it was in a plastic bag, so the damage was minimal, but some dishwasher tablet boxes got wet, and I had to go through the hassle of cleaning and refilling the leaked detergent... Although it has an accident, this delivery service is actually quite valuable. Recently, due to environmental considerations, toilet paper bags no longer have handles, making them incredibly hard to carry. When riding a bike, I end up attaching toilet paper rolls to the straps meant for securing a sleeping bag to my backpack, which looks quite silly. Items like dishwasher tablets and detergents are somewhat heavy, so having them delivered is a big help. The delivery guy is also really nice.

So, I wrote to the customer support, "I really appreciate the delivery service since I don't have a car. However, it was unfortunate that the liquid detergent refill leaked, causing quite a cleanup." And I added one sentense "I would be happy to receive a coupon for future use :)" I understand that the service has its protocols, but I was compensated with a 10% coupon and a refund for the damaged detergent.

From my own experience of working, I find that I'm more receptive to friendly suggestions for improvement.

Sometimes, when things go wrong, I feel like I'm about to explode and vent in solitude. But, well, it's impossible for nothing to happen. I make mistakes too. Over the past few years, I've learned to take a deep breath and respond calmly.

Today, I was on the verge of getting annoyed when my partner went to meet a friend far away, leaving me with our sick daughter. But after giving it some thought, there's not much we all could do even if we were all stay at home. It's easier to prepare meals if he's out, and with the tablet and WhatsApp, short outings are manageable. So, I sent him off with a smile 😉

I remember being impressed by @sumi's ability from her posts to stay calm and handle situations back in the Steemit days. I wondered if I could ever be that adept, but perhaps I'm getting there.

So, it was a week that reminded me of the importance of being friendly.

今週はあれこれ苦情を言う1週間でした。

以前購入した、いろいろなお店のギフトカードに交換できるギフトカードを、なぜかAmazonのギフトカードに交換できず、「えええ・・・Amazonで使うつもりだったのに」と愕然として、サービスに苦情のメッセージを書きました。正直、交換できなかったら詐欺くらいの気持ちでした。でも、アグレッシブに苦情を言っても問題が解決することはほとんどないので、ものすごく冷静かつフレンドリーなメッセージを書きました。問題の解決に時間はかかったものの、カスタマーサポートの人(AI?なんて!)がていねいに対応してくれて、無事問題解決。

もう一つあって、ドラッグストアの配送サービスで、液体洗剤が漏れていました。ビニール袋に入っていたので被害は少なかったものの、食洗機のタブレットの箱の一部が濡れていたり、漏れた潜在を詰め替えたり・・・掃除などの手間がかかりました。苦情の申告用に撮った写真です。

でも、これもありがたいサービスなんですよね。最近環境への配慮からか、トイレットペーパーの袋の取手がなくなり、めちゃくちゃ持ちにくく、自転車のときはリュックの寝袋を固定するための紐にトイレットペーパーを固定して運ぶという間抜けな姿で、食洗機のタブレットや洗剤など微妙に重く、配送してもらえるととても助かります。持ってきてくれるDHLのおっちゃんも親切なおっちゃんだし。

なので、「車がないので配送サービスはとても助かっています。ただ、液体洗剤のレフィルが漏れていたのは残念で、片付けに手間がかかりました。次回使えるクーポンをもらえるとうれしいです⭐︎」とメッセージを書きました。サービス側にも決まった対応はあるとは思うのですが、10%のクーポンと、パッケージが破損していた洗剤の代金を返金してもらえました。

私自身仕事をしていて、フレンドリーに改善点を指摘されると素直に受け入れられる気がします。

嫌なことがあると一瞬頭が爆発しそうになって一人怒ることもありますが、まあ、何も起こらないなんてないのです。私もやらかすし w この数年で深呼吸して冷静に対応できるようになりました。

今日も風邪の子供を置いて遠くまで友達に会いに行った相方にカチーンときかけましたが、よくよく考えてみると、別に家に家族全員でいてできることもないのです。外出してくれればご飯の支度は楽だし、タブレット+WhatsAppで短い外出ならできるし、恩を売るべく送り出しました 😁

メリットを見極めた冷静なコミュニケーションといえば、@sumi さんがとてもうまかったんですよね。前々回のクリプトバブルくらいの、まだSteemit時代に @sumi さんの投稿を読んでいたときには、すごいなあ、私にもできるようになるんだろうかと思っていましたが、ちょっとだけできるようになったかもしれません。

そんなこんなで、フレンドリーにするのって大事ですねと思う一週間でした。

It’s challenging when those things build up but I’m glad they were both resolved in a positive fashion. You were likely dealing with an AI bot though not a human sadly.
