This week, I’ve been on a workation (work + vacation) at a resort just outside of Frankfurt.

There were a few bumps along the way — some disagreements about the direction of the project and how much time to spend working versus relaxing — but in the end, things came together. I gained clarity about what I want to create, and it feels like we’ll be heading home in peace.

I’m not sure if I’m fully recharged or just exhausted, but on the last night, I slept soundly for over nine hours and woke up at 7:30 for the first time in a while (usually I wake up 4-5am in summer like a granny).

Since the last day was Saturday, I gave myself a longer reading time and enjoyed a relaxing sauna to wrap up the trip.

By the way, as I love cooking and wanted to eat vegetables, I made part of my meals. Breakfast was served in buffet style and finger food was in the lounge. So I made my lunch and small salad for dinner during the workcation. Here is an example. Instant couscous with oil marinated artichoke and radicchio for lunch.

Although I miss my kitchen and cooking tools, maybe taking time off like this once in a while is a good idea ☺️ Do you do workcation?

今週はフランクフルト郊外のリゾートにワーケーション（work + vacation）に来ています。旅好きが高じて旅行業の会社まで始めた相方がバーゲンを見つけてきて、フランクフルト郊外のリゾートに滞在しています。

プロジェクトの方向性や仕事とリラックスタイムの量でもめたりもしましたが、一応成果は出て、作りたいものが明確になって、平和に帰れそうかなという感じです。リラックスできたのか疲れたのか、最後の夜は9時間以上ぐーぐー眠って久しぶりの7時半起きでした。

最終日の昨日は土曜日ということもあって、長めに読書タイムをとって、サウナに入ってリラックスできました。

ちなみに、料理が好きなのと野菜が食べたかったのとで、ワーケーション中は一部自分で食事を作っていました。朝食はビュッフェスタイルで、ラウンジにはフィンガーフードが用意されていたので、昼食と夕食の一部を簡単に用意しました。たとえばこんな感じ。インスタントのクスクスに、旅先のフランクフルトで買ったオイル漬けのアーティチョークと、と、家から持ってきたラディッキオを合わせたランチプレートです。家からはほかにもネギ、ミニトマト、きゅうりなど冷蔵庫にあった野菜たちを連れてきて、いい感じに完食しました。

It’s so hard to find work/life balance. Sometimes I work too hard and after that it’s really hard to work even for a few hours. Never heard about workation. I hope you will be full of energy soon.
