Even though I haven't had breakfast yet this sunny morning, I happened to see a damselfly munching something.

I had the impression that he was biting down on something. What was in his mouth? I'm attempting to guess that it might be aphids.

Oh my! He ate it with such voracity. It appears from his comical behavior that he doesn't want to share his catch with me.

He had already eaten up his prey in a matter of seconds. Look at how it uses one of his forelegs to sweep his jaws. Perhaps she didn't carry a handkerchief.

He had finished his breakfast, yet he was still perched there. It appeared that he was still hungry and needed a few more prey.

He wondered if another aphid would pass so he might ambush them. He is on full alert while awaiting the chance.

This male *Ischnura elegans*, commonly known as the blue-tailed damselfly, belongs to the *Coenagrionidae* family [](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue-tailed_damselfly). They can typically be seen in bushes or grassy areas.
