I have decided to leave Samar tomorrow. My bags are packed and I am going. I am giving up on my trip around Samar because I think my stationary lifestyle in the last two weeks has made me lazy and just laxed when it comes to my overall attitude here. My cousin let me down when she brought her kids and made it a point to use them as an excuse to say she cannot come with me around Samar as we had planned for the last six months.

I am not blaming her for me giving up wholeheartedly. This is in response to me just wanting to get off the island. I think I have fallen in the scare trap, my whole family here keep saying how dangerous places are here. Everyday I am being told who has died where and why from years back to recent events so I think I will leave Samar and just scratch it from my list as a place where it is best to travel when there are no more NPA's. 

Why has this affected me?

Well two days ago I was told by my cousin a shootout between the army and the NPA's resulted in four rebels dead. This occurred in a barangay in  Catarman, a half hour away from where I am staying.

The rains in the last week has also meant the roads from here to the east of Samar is slippery since there are parts in the mountain that have had its sides cut to make the new roads without any retaining walls on them  the mad washing onto the cemented roads.

And that's it.

Tomorrow I will head out straight to Ormoc. An eight and a half hour ride to catch the ten PM ferry to Cebu. This is an overnighter again so will be on the ferry tomorrow the whole night and get off at Cebu at about five AM. That ride back to Toledo will be another 2 hours so it will be an interesting ride back.

Well I will leave it here for now since I have to wake up early and get my things in order.
