Hello everyone, It’s been a while I’ve dropped a post on hive and that is because I’ve trying to navigate through different communities in order to see which one best describe my interest. And I’m so delighted I found this community. It’s like a God sent to me because as a science student (A Mathematician to be precise) I love to explore and I believe this is a good ground for me to achieve that by interacting with like minds in the community. At the cause of my research on this topic I was able to understand that ***Sleep is a natural state of unconsciousness where the body and mind gets to rest so as to reactivate and function better.*** While ***Rest is a state of relaxation where the body and mind become less active in other to function better.*** With the above brief definition, you will agree with me that sleep or rest is a natural phenomenon that can helps individual functions better both physically and mentally. Now, what is my pattern of Sleep or Rest? I know you’ve been waiting for this right, and I’m going to tell you in details for free. Yeah for free. Well, while growing up as a child I must said I practice both quantity and quality sleep because my mum understands the importance of quality sleep. She doesn’t allow me stay outside my room till 10:00pm. Once it’s getting to 10:00pm I already know where I belong, I have to quickly go inside my room because I know what the outcome would be once I’m caught outside by that time. I became used to it as I grew up and that has been my practice not until when I got a night job that made me stay awake all night. The night job was so demanding that I had to always stay actively awake with my eyes wide open looking at my system for ours. Though it wasn’t easy for me at first but with time I got used to it, though my sleeping pattern changed. I only sleep during the day time and I must confess that sleep at day time is never a quality sleep, and most times it’s short because that is when most people are active so the environment won’t be quiet enough to have the quantity of sleep or rest that one deserves. I strugled and manage to handle that role for two solid years. That was when I got to understand that the body and mind can adapt to any pattern of sleep you subject it to. It's just matter of time and the body system would get use to it. After the two years I got a 9-5 job which now made me returned to my normal pattern of sleep In conclusion, I must say that over the years I practice quality and quantity sleep pattern and that have inpacted positively in my mental and physical health unlike when I used to work all night and having limited rest.
