Todos de niños, deseamos muchas cosas, algunos quieren volver realidad sus locas fantasías infantiles, como que lluevan caramelos, la existencia de hadas y convertirse en una princesa, tener poderes super humanos para combatir el crimen, ser astronauta para ir a la luna, una actriz súper famosa, etc. 

>As children, we all wish for many things, some want to make their crazy childhood fantasies come true, like raining candy, the existence of fairies and becoming a princess, having super human powers to fight crime, being an astronaut to go to the moon, a super famous actress, etc. 

Algo muy común, es que una cosa que desea uno al ser un niño muy pequeño, es volverse adulto. Crecer rápido, ser independiente, tener un carro, dinero, trabajar y administrar todo eso que tienen nuestros padres, siendo nosotros tan chicos. De niños, admiramos a nuestros padres, como si fuesen entidades celestiales, por lo grandes que pueden resultarnos, siendo nosotros tan chicos.

>Something very common, is that one thing you want as a very young child, is to become an adult. To grow up fast, to be independent, to have a car, money, work and manage all that our parents have, being so young. As children, we admire our parents, as if they were celestial entities, for how great they can be to us, being so young.

Pero, comúnmente, algunos quieren hacerse adultos para ser más “atractivos”. Nuestros padres, siempre nos hacen la idea de que cuando crezcamos, seremos grandes, fuertes, casi invencibles y hermosos, cosa que nos dicen  apenas nacemos. Quien no querría ser corpulento, con músculos grandes y una cara definida. Claro que son muchos detalles que no entendemos, pero de alguna manera queremos ser como lo que vemos, no solo lo que vemos en nuestros padres, sino también lo que nos muestra el mundo y la sociedad.

Our parents always give us the idea that when we grow up, we will be big, strong, almost invincible and beautiful, something they tell us as soon as we are born. Who wouldn't want to be big, with big muscles and a defined face. Of course, there are many details that we do not understand, but somehow we want to be like what we see, not only what we see in our parents, but also what the world and society shows us.

Uno de los atributos físicos, que particularmente, yo admiraba de niño en los hombres, era la barba. Ya saben, ese tumulto de vello que sale en toda la cara y casi que hasta en los ojos, como si de una selva sin árboles se tratase. Llamémoslo el “monte facial”, y no le queda pequeño el nombre, crece como si de césped se tratase. No lo entendía, no entendía el por qué, algo tan simple como el vello en la cara, me parecía genial. Quizás era por esos programas y dibujos animados, donde el hombre “más masculino” era representado como alguien musculoso y una barba muy poblada.

Maybe it was because of those programs and cartoons, where the "more masculine" man was represented as someone muscular and with a bushy beard.

Nada fuera de la realidad, de pequeños, a los varones, se nos enseña cómo deben comportarse los varones y como deben verse en apariencia. Es común, que por curiosidad e instinto, persigamos conceptos y representaciones lo más parecidas a las ideas con las que nos nutren. No hay nada malo, de niños la curiosidad nos inunda el cuerpo y nos impulsa como bebida energética acompañada de un vaso puro de café.

>Nothing out of reality, as children, we boys are taught how boys should behave and how they should look in appearance. It is common that, out of curiosity and instinct, we pursue concepts and representations as close as possible to the ideas with which we are nurtured. There is nothing wrong, as children, curiosity floods our bodies and drives us like an energy drink with a pure glass of coffee.

Sin embargo, como muchas decepciones, las ideas nunca son como se conciben, y menos como lo hace la mente de un niño, tan llena de ilusión y esperanza, triste pero cierto. Basado en mi propia experiencia, en la adolescencia, lo primero en crecer, son pelitos locos, dirían nuestras tías, en la cara, que no se parecen en nada a lo que uno quiere, están esparcidos por toda la cara y unos son más largos que otros. Algunos tienen peor suerte y sufren de acné facial, junto con el vello disparejo.

Luego de un tiempo, sale un poco más, el famoso bigote, y este es mucho peor que los pelos de jojoto que salen en la cara, y muchos en nuestra ilusión juvenil de ser más adultos, creemos que se nos ve bien o genial. Sácate esa tontería de la cabeza y aféitate que te ves ridículo, Horacio (Aclaro que no conozco a ningún Horacio, solo es metafórico para referirme a un personaje con los tontos pensamientos que describo).

>After a while, a little more comes out, the famous mustache, and this is much worse than the jojoto hairs that come out on the face, and many in our youthful illusion of being more adult, we think we look good or great. Take that nonsense out of your head and shave it off, you look ridiculous, Horatio (I clarify that I don't know any Horatio, it is only metaphorical to refer to a character with the silly thoughts I describe).

Súmale a todo lo descrito, la picazón que genera en el rostro y lo incomodo que es. Y no olvidemos la primera vez que nos toca rasurarnos. Si tienes mala suerte o eres un rustico, terminas rebanándote medio rostro. Para mi suerte nunca me sucedió. Claro que después de un tiempo, mi barba, empezó a poblarse y tomar forma, y se conectaba con mi bigote, como si fuese uno mismo. Sin embargo, incluso después de que creciera y tuviera la forma que quisiera, conllevaron otros problemas. La comezón nunca se fue, y en muchos casos, algunos pueden crecer de forma incorrecta, y encarnarse en el rostro, y el dolor que esto causa es horrible, si alguno lo ha experimentado, sabe de lo que hablo.

>Add to everything described, the itchiness it generates in the face and how uncomfortable it is. And let's not forget the first time we have to shave. If you are unlucky or rustic, you end up slicing half your face. Luckily for me it never happened. Of course, after a while, my beard, started to populate and take shape, and it connected with my mustache, as if it were one and the same. However, even after it grew and took the shape I wanted, it led to other problems. The itching never went away, and in many cases, some can grow the wrong way, and become ingrown on the face, and the pain this causes is horrible, if any of you have experienced it, you know what I'm talking about.

Es innegable el sentimiento de parecer más adulto y hombre, sentirse genial, pero si tuviese que elegir, nunca la hubiese tomado, el tener barba, el precio de la incomodidad, solo por la mera apariencia, no es nada equitativo. Tengo que rasurarme casi cada semana para evitar que crezca demasiado.

>It's undeniable the feeling of looking more grown up and manly, feeling cool, but if I had to choose, I would never have taken it, having a beard, the price of discomfort, just for the mere appearance, is not at all equitable. I have to shave almost every week to keep it from growing too long.

Por supuesto hay modas y formas de cuidado de la barba, para lucirla mejor y más sana, pero de eso no voy a hablar, es tema aparte. En resumen, ser niño, querer crecer y querer que te salga la barba, fue el pensamiento más absurdo que tuve, era solo un niño, ni idea de que tenía en la mente.

In short, being a kid, wanting to grow up and wanting to grow a beard, was the most absurd thought I had, I was just a kid, no idea what I had in my mind.</div>
