I like how you put a positive spin to the word enable.

To be honest, when I learnt of that word, it came from a bad place.

It was about my ex-girlfriend. It was all good at first, then things went to shit when she started partying with rich douchebags.

I saw a change in her behavior as she started to focus on money and act like she was better than others.

These rich douchebags were constantly enabling her. Oh and, she was a model. She looked good and appeared on magazine covers and shit.

These partygoers, being imbued with alcohol and indulging in a superficial culture that is partying, my guess was they constantly enabled her to feel like she's better just because she looks good.

Indeed, if you want real, good support, be enabled in a positive AND realistic way. They'd all help to keep you grounded and change that conversation in your head.
