#### Hello and welcome to "Exploring Israel" series¹.  --- Today for my post in our ***<a href="https://peakd.com/c/hive-168869/created">WEEKEND EXPERIENCES</a>*** community by @galenkp, I will guide you through my very pleasant, #surprise find of a hidden #grove in the center of the city. All the photographs were taken with my #xiaomi note 10 pro phone on 27 August, 2022 while I was #cycling and exploring the city of Rishon Lezion in #Israel during early #Saturday #morning. The satellite photo is quite old. As you will see, now the grove is fully matured.  <center>Explore on [Open Street Map](https://www.openstreetmap.org/?mlat=31.975262574629767&mlon=34.804800167122266#map=19/31.975262574629767/34.804800167122266)</center> --- Let's start with a narrow foot path, I came across by accident while cycling.  This part of the city is totally unfamiliar and the path looks interesting to explore. As we walk down the path surrounded by climbing vines we see a tree grove by the exit. Exiting the path we turn right and continue walking.  We see #avocado trees growing by the sides of the path. Upon closer inspection we find a lot of avocados.   The avocados are unripe, we should come back later and collect some 😀 --- As we continue our walk down the paths, we see #olive trees.  We come closer and find that trees are heavy with olives.   --- Moving forward we see a lot of olive trees around the path.   --- Tucked in the middle of olive trees we find a #hickory tree with green fruit that will mature to a hickory nut.   --- We continue our walk, enjoying the view and find a dedication plaque on our left.     We move closer to read the plaque, it says: >***Public garden named after Dvora (Abarbanel) and Dave Greenbalt.*** Earth people, zionists and people lovers who came to Israel before the WWI and build a home in Nahlat Ehyuda in 1922. Dvora worked a lot of years as a midwife in troubled neighbourhoods in Rishon Lezion. Dave worked as a veterinarian, developed and created innovations for his farm. Teached farming to the whole generation of pioneers. --- We continue to walk and find more avocados but they are much bigger and smoother, likely of the Hass variety. Mostly this variety can be bought in local stores.    --- As we continue or walk, we find new types of trees.   We find grapefruits.  Lemons  Pomegranate  and Mission Figs  --- Unfortunately we reach the end of the grove. We see a sign by the entrance, it reads: >***Heritage Grove - planted in 2017*** The olive trees were planted in memory of Atiya and David Margalit, one of the first settlers in Nahlat Yehudah and founders of the Pinskar street. David Margalit was the second Aliyah pioneer, participated in the defense of Tel Hai. Atiya was a [Prisoner or Zion](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prisoner_of_Zion) in USSR. An addition in memory of Yosef Soliman and his sister Rachel Soliman-Green. Were born in Rishon Lezion, members of [Lehi](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lehi_(militant_group)) and [Irgun](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irgun).
