Hello Party People! I am back with another written article. They seem to sell like girl-scout cookies! _Kidding._ At this moment, the article does not have a heading yet. We'll figure that out later. This is an **open format**. I'll keep the sentences short and the **reading simple**. --- --- I want to share some insights into my experience in **staying off sugar** for the last week. Sugar, the hidden drug. Almost everybody is on it. Almost nobody knows it. That feeling, the craving. **I NEED SOMETHING SWEET TO EAT & I NEED IT NOW**. I know it, you probably do too. Wanna know what it is? ## It's your body starving > or, well, thinking he is. Watch this to cheer up a little, before we go HAM. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=09R8_2nJtjg --- --- First of all, you have to know that if the body has a choice between converting fat into sugar to use as energy OR using sugar already in the bloodstream, it will ALWAYS go for the latter. Now, until, say, 10.000 years ago, that was no problem. People rarely got the chance to eat sugar then. Not even to mention refined sugar. Their primary mode of producing energy for their bodies was by burning fat. It's efficient. _It's what the body is designed to do_. --- --- ### Okay, now back to your body thinking it is starving and all... See, what happens in the body when you eat sugar as a primary energy source is this: * Sugar is ingested * Digested and goes in the bloodstream * _Either_, the bloodsugar is used immediatley as energy fuel for the cells. **GAME OVER.** * _Or_, there is an access of sugar, not all of it is needed * Then the body has to get rid of all that sugar in the bloodstream, so it dumps insulin, which binds the sugar into fat * The initial sugar high is followed by a sugar low - all the sugar is converted into fat, no more energy for the cells to feed on # THAT'S the point where your body SCREAMS FOR SUGAR again The cycle repeats itself. --- --- ### What results from this? Weight gain, for one. Your body is a perpetual spiral of thinking it is dying from sugar shock or starvation. Another result is diabetes. Eventually your pancrea breaks down in exhaustion. You need to get your insulin from external sources. There is more. MUCH MORE negative consequences. But I will leave it at that for now. --- --- ### So, I'm out of that cycle. For a good week now. I feel good! Great, even. I mostly eat salad & veggies. Meat/fish. But no bread, no dough, no processed foods, no sodas. Very little alcohol. I am still craving. Sometimes I want to eat all of the subway cookies. That doughy texture. The sweetness. The biting down on chocolate chips or macadamia nuts. MHHHHMM... Fuck, I love that so much. But I will stay off, for at least another 2 weeks. --- --- 21 days, that is how long it takes for the body to adjust to the new diet. To become **a fat-burning beast**. I like that thought. The benefits of burning fat instead of using sugar - or carbohydrates in general, for that matter - as a primary energy source are vast. --- --- # Now, where can _you_ easily learn more about this? I have gathered some resources here, that I found useful. You may too! * [The Primal Blueprint](https://www.primalblueprint.com/). Mark Sisson. Now this guy is my entry into that whole paradigm of health thinking. I first saw him on the **Joe Rogan Experience**. Get into this video, before buying & **reading** this book. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nwd6InD2nDk Btw, Joe has been on this diet ever since this episode aired, which is almost 2 years ago! * [The Case against Sugar]() This guy, Gary Taubes, was on JRE too! Have not read the book yet, but I am sure it is great. The Episode certainly is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q0ffswUVoxA&spfreload=10 * The bitter Truth My first video, that opened my eyes to the lie I have been living. Maybe watch this first: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBnniua6-oM --- --- Oh nice, and now I found my title - of course, by the time you read it, it was the first thing you saw. A bittersweet tangent... It's a _bitter_ for me right now, not to be stuff my face with whatever I want. But it is _sweet_, because it will make me better in the long-term. What a up-side-down world. --- --- Okay guys and gals, that's enough for today. Let me just slap a _sweet_ pic on this post and send it on it's way. ## Thanks for reading. I'd be interested to hear your opinion/experience in the comments below!

Girl scout cookies!! 🍪 I was, like so many on this planet, addicted to sugar, hardcore style.. I quit when I went low carb in fall last year.. First days I had headache and was very tired.. You are off sugar for a week? I think I was still craving for sugar after 2 month.. But then all of a sudden it passed. Someone offering me chocolate? I didn't have to think twice to refuse. It feels good to be out of that cycle/craving. I quit low carb though because I wanted to go raw, but I didn't make it to raw.. So I'm back to "normal" but without sugar (almost)! Keep your body sacred!

Hey @alexanarcho , how are you? Yes, the whole truths about sugar is definitely bitter. I know some negative aspects. And Sugar has a better image in society than fat. But sugar is much more negative. If I did my sport I could eat sweet without end. Sometimes I can say No. It's a good thing that you are informing here on Steemit about this topic. I will study what you give as informations, again, and very closely. The videos I have not looked at yet, but I will do asap

I m great, man! I am also kind of surprised that my workout is posing no real problem for me. Usually you are supposed to take a break from working hard for the 21 transition period, but since I have taken in very little sugar over the last year, I don't think I need that pause. So yes, check out the content, it will change your life for the better if you take their advice.
