My take on "trying things out"

One of the most frequent recommendations I have been hearing on spiritual Youtube channels or websites is that of "trying out new things, otherwise you won't get to know what you like and what not".

Personally, I disagree with that.

Firstly, I experienced that seeking the light is what prevents me from being more aligned with it right now, because seeking implies not being there yet. This is a mindset thing. When we truly realise that we are there already and continuously focus on our Heart, both of which to some extend requires detachment from time, then we will come to see that those things that are really meant to bring us deepest joy and satisfaction will find us instead of us seeking them out. "It finding us" does not mean that we don't need to act at all then to "get it", the opposite holds true, but the most significant factor is that when we are deeply aware that our Soul is an expert in attracting exactly that which fills us with utter joy and satisfaction without us searching for it actively, then our Heart will remain much more open and receptive toward unmistakably feeling, actually knowing, that this is exactly "it".

Put simply, the more we deeply trust that "it will find us", which requires a high level of self-awareness attained through increased Heart focus, the stronger we will finally feel "this is it!", making seizing "it" much more effortless and driven by passion.

In contrast, the more we actively search for "it", which is most of the time actually reflective of a low level of self-awareness with decreased Heart focus, the bigger a question mark there will be when "it" is there:"Is this it?", making seizing "it" much more difficult and unlikely.

Yet even more generally speaking, the method of getting to know oneself by trying things out is very superficial at best, because it is always the inner emotional work which familiarises us more with our core being, which then gradually ripples outward, never vice versa. "You never know unless you try" in this context couldn't be further from the truth. When we focus on our Heart and the emotional work we don't need to try in order to know because the rebirth of our Heart alignment paving the way for our pure Soul feelings to come to the fore clearly lets us know when something is not "it", therefore doesn't need a try.

Refraining from trying things out, especially when we don't feel like doing so, is actually pivotal to focus on our inner work and shift mindset from seeking to receiving.

When somebody asked me "I feel so lacklustre, how am I to find my ultimate passion?", I would never say "explore and try out new things", but I would say "dedicate yourself to the emotional work and your Heart, this is how your true passions will naturally crystallise over time."

The quintessential difference is that the former method ends with increased self-inacceptance because simply not finding the joy despite myriad attempts makes us finally blame ourselves, while the latter method starts with self-acceptance.

Enjoy your abstinence from trying out,

Alex

Love the article but cant agree that it works for every person.

Kids for example should try out as much as possible. To learn.

Once you have a basic understanding of yourself and the world around you, but also experienced a certain variety, Im completely in with your opinion! :)

Yes, of course it doesn't work everyone, but as you see I am actually more referring to those type of people who are into the conscious spiritual path, because many of them tend to deal with anxieties, lacklustreness and so forth, all of which are actually symptoms of overstimulation. For this particluar target group the "try out new things-method"is largely bound to fail. Funnily enough, many spiritual Youtubers (or people in general) have gone through the path that I am advocating in my article, but the advice they are then giving others is opposite to the path they went themselves.

Some months ago I read that very successful people often tend to give theoretical advice that is completely contradictive to what they practically did to achieve their success. So while introspection and honoring our own path is a bullet-proof way to succeed, the advice of other is better to be taken with a grain of salt. ;)

Wait, wait, so you can't just take a loooong toke of dmt and "get it" 😀

JK, great intent here. For me that's the root. Doing vs not doing, realising what you seek is also seeking you.

Maslow revised his hierarchy of needs before he transitioned from culminating in not only self actualization but the assimilation of that evolved perspective into a universally open channel that is within oneness if you will.

I'm paraphrasing but essentially what I try to reduce things down to is the intent set and the acquiescence of its co-implementation into the tapestry of awareness...we ebb we flow we find the most potent paths of least resistance...

Cheers

Well said. Applying force or seeking purpose from my experience entangles me more in this reality, hence threatens balance. Personally, practising mental Silence has been one of the most powerful ways to clear my mind on a consisten level, thus creating more attentive space for me to truly hear and feel pure Soul aligned feelings.
