I had a long conversation with my line manager today and told him that I will probably resign on Monday. He knows that the company can't give me what I want and that I will probably go to another position that is much higher and also pays better. It was actually a normal conversation, in a friendly way. He wanted to send me to Japan for a few weeks to solve a problem, but I had to turn that down.
<br><br>
I will probably only be travelling to Japan for certain trade fairs or family trips in the near future. That's a decision I'll have to make next week, because there's a lot of money involved. In relative terms, it's a difference of €880,000 over the rest of my working life if I have to work until I'm 65. And that's without bonuses and salary increases. Work out what you earn per year and multiply that by your remaining working life. That adds up to quite a lot if you still have 20 to 30 years to work. So it's worth switching if you have the opportunity.

I wanted to stay here longer, even in this tense market with a lot of uncertainty and political changes. But when an opportunity presents itself, you have to seize it. The fear is there, of course, because it's human to be afraid of the future, of uncertainty. How is it for you, would you change?

Ich hatte heute ein langes Gespräch mit meinem Vorgesetzten und habe ihm gesagt, dass ich wahrscheinlich am Montag kündigen werde. Er weiß, dass das Unternehmen mir nicht geben kann, was ich will, und dass ich wahrscheinlich in eine andere Position gehen werde, die viel höher ist und auch besser bezahlt wird. Es war eigentlich ein normales Gespräch, auf eine freundliche Art und Weise. Er wollte mich für ein paar Wochen nach Japan schicken, um ein Problem zu lösen, aber das musste ich jetzt ablehnen. <br><br>
Wahrscheinlich werde ich demnächst nur zu bestimmten Messen oder Familienreisen nach Japan fahren. Das ist eine Entscheidung, die ich nächste Woche treffen muss, denn es geht um viel Geld. Relativ gesehen sind es 880.000 € Unterschied über mein restliches Berufsleben, wenn ich bis 65 arbeiten muss. Und das ohne Boni und Gehaltserhöhungen. Rechnet mal aus, was man im Jahr verdient und multipliziert das mit der verbleibenden Lebensarbeitszeit. Da kommt eine ganze Menge zusammen, wenn ihr noch 20 bis 30 Jahre zu arbeiten habt. Es lohnt sich also zu wechseln, wenn man die Möglichkeit hat.<br><br>
Ich wollte länger hier bleiben, auch in diesem angespannten Markt mit viel Unsicherheit und vielen politischen Veränderungen. Aber wenn sich eine Chance bietet, muss man sie ergreifen. Die Angst ist natürlich da, denn es ist menschlich, Angst vor der Zukunft zu haben, vor der Ungewissheit. Wie ist das bei euch, würdet ihr wechseln?
