My friend @uwelang, a music lover who also likes rock, has created a new tag #RockBest where people talk about their favourite rock songs. This should increase interaction on the platform, especially among music lovers.<br><br>
I have a lot of songs that I like. One of them is Child in Time by Deep Purple. It's on the band's fourth album, Deep Purple in Rock from 1970. It's a song that was written in the middle of the Cold War, when many people were afraid of nuclear war.<br><br>
And now to the song. It puts Ian Gillan's voice centre stage. He has a very broad vocal spectrum, from baritone to alto tenor. He had to take a break after the concerts because his vocal chords were very strained. This song was also inspired by another song, Bombay Calling from It's a Beautiful Day.<br><br>
For me, that was actually the first real rock song I discovered. My father smuggled a record before 1990 and that's when I heard it for the first time. It was also a sign of rebellion and freedom, because something like that was forbidden before 1990.

Ich habe viele Lieder, die ich mag. Eines davon ist Child in Time von Deep Purple. Es ist auf dem vierten Album der Band, Deep Purple in Rock von 1970. Es ist ein Lied, das mitten im Kalten Krieg geschrieben wurde, als viele Menschen Angst vor einem Atomkrieg hatten.<br><br>
UUnd nun zum Song. Es stellt die Stimme von Ian Gillan in den Vordergrund. Er hat ein sehr breites Stimmspektrum, von Bariton bis Alttenor. Nach den Konzerten musste er eine Pause einlegen, weil seine Stimmbänder sehr beansprucht wurden. Dieses Lied wurde auch von einem anderen Lied inspiriert, nämlich Bombay Calling von It's a Beautiful Day.<br><br>
Für mich war das eigentlich der erste richtige Rocksong, den ich entdeckt habe. Mein Vater hat vor 1990 eine Platte geschmuggelt und da habe ich es zum ersten Mal gehört. Es war auch ein Zeichen der Rebellion und der Freiheit, denn so etwas war vor 1990 verboten. <br><br>
