The words Logistics and freight management stirs up memories of endless visits to customs and warehouse agents. It involves endless documentation and yet the results more often then not leave a lot to be desired. 
Take for instance the last time we were coordinating with our client who was preparing garments to be sold in Europe.
As part of the accessory design we placed an order for Swarovski crystals to be imported. We got an intimation from the vendor once they got shipped. However thereafter neither did they arrive nor did the news as to why and where did they get stuck.
I personally called up the logistic company several times and then I came to know that they were at the customs. As there were shining and bright the customs people wanted to know if they were real jewels. I tried to explain to the agent that there were coming directly from the manufacturer of the crystals “Swarovski” and it is common knowledge that they make these crystals and these are not real gems.
This argument did not carry any weight and they deposited our consignment with a warehouse that started charging us on a daily basis. 
We were left with no alternative but to contact the sender to send additional documentation stating that these were crystals and not real gems.
The whole process cost of waiting for the documents to be sent to us cost us money. Plus there were a lot of holidays in between when we could not communicate and furnish the documents. 
Finally we got our consignment delivered to us after having paid twice the cost of the crystals towards the warehouse charges that too because of no fault of ours.
So could this bad experience  have a better ending?
