Play to earn is in the early phase and this is why we are getting a bunch of opportunities to build the portfolio. I am glad that I joined splinterlands on time and I have witnessed the tremendous growth of the platform. I know that this is just the beginning and the best of the game is yet to come as there is a lot under development. Once most of these things are live then there will be much more utility in the game and this will also result in more onboarding in the game. Be it lands, 2 new games, and even the license that is a recent addition to the splinterlands platform. 

[Splinterlands Node Validator License](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-sps-node-validator-license) was launched a few months back and at that time I had no plan to buy it. It's because I was not aware of how it will work since I am not a technical person. A few months later I did spend some time understanding more about it. While curating splinterlands content, I saw that many people are sharing their experiences and strategies about the node. This created curiosity in me and I decided to go deep into this. Finally, I also decided that I will buy one and this was the time before the pre-sale for riftwatcher packs. Because [SPS](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-splintershards-sps) was expected to be the only payment method for riftwatcher packs so I expected that price will increase. At that time there were above 1500 licenses available in the first tranche. The daily buy was less that time so I thought once the SPS price will grow then I will buy it and for this reason, I bought about 15k SPS from hive-engine. It was all set and I was waiting for the right time.

All of a sudden, things changed overnight after the pre-sale launch for riftwatcher packs. We know that it was sold out in 1 minute 40 seconds and this is a record. Even all the licenses were sold out on the same day so obviously, the next tranche increased its price. My plan to buy the node for less SPS was spoiled but it did not change my mind. Now I need to pay more than 30k SPS for the license along with 500 vouchers. I did not find it worthwhile so I followed a different strategy. I staked all my SPS and decided to buy the license from the open market. People were selling it for less as compared to the price that was available in splinterlands Shop. There is no difference in both and the day we move it to the game account, we can start earning daily. 

Now I arranged $2000 worth of [hive](https://leofinance.io/@crypto-guides/what-is-hive-crypto-hive) and started tracing the price in hive-engine. It was the time when the price was around 4200-4500 hive but I was looking to buy it around 4000 hive. I placed so many orders and canceled because the price was in range. One night I placed the bid for 3902 hive and after a few days, I got notified that the order was filled. It was a happy moment and I moved my license to the game account on the same day. I started getting the daily reward of 22 SPS and 4 vouchers daily and this is a good amount. The entire process was smooth and the payout is auto so there is nothing that I need to do now. 

Its been 2 weeks since my purchase and I am enjoying the daily reward. I have completed 15 days of the purchase and this has paid me 330 SPS along with 60 vouchers. This is not a bad amount of return I think. The development is still in process and I think that it will take about the next 6 months to complete. As far as setup is concerned, I am sure that there will be options to get the setup run by a third party and this will be a preferred option for me. 

SPS is available at a much lower price as of now but I am sure it will grow and that will also increase the value of the daily reward. I will not be selling my license instead I am thinking to buy another. I am running short of funds so will not be buying another soon but this is on my mind and hopefully I should be able to buy it when there is a good price opportunity. 

This is my journey of getting 1 node license and I am glad to hold 1 in my account. The team has already mentioned that the daily reward will continue to happen indefinitely so I consider it a good return on the investment. What do you think about it?
