Investing in [cryptocurrency](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/cryptocurrency) through the [decentralised finance (DeFi)](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-decentralized-finance-defi) is something that can bring better yield and this is the reason why people prefer this form of investment. Investment is a method that we follow to grow our money and we prefer two components whenever we think about investing in any project. First and foremost is how much profit we are going to make out of it and second the security on the platform. We have dozen of DeFi protocols offering various options to choose from for the investment but there are very few offering something that is not common and provides different flavour and bitter opportunities for the investment. [Maya Protocol](https://www.mayaprotocol.com/) is a leader in this segment they have done something good for the crypto investors and they can make the most out of the offered options.

#### Maya is compatible with THORChain 

This is a fork of [THORChain](https://app.thorwallet.org/) and its a leading defi protocol available in the market that offers the best pools along with higher security standards. This has been a leader in the area of innovation as well and this is an advantage for Maya protocol community. They have maintained the compatibility which is why we get additional options to choose from.

### Multichain is the future

We have been using the single chain for various transactions including the trades but now things are going to the next level because it is high time when we need to move towards the multi chain. technology evolves and with the advancement, we get better things to use and this is why the limitation of one chain is not a barrier anymore. Now we have the option to swap [Bitcoin](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-bitcoin) on the [Ethereum](https://leofinance.io/@crypto-guides/what-is-ethereum-eth) chain and vice versa. Multi-chain is the future and Maya understands it well so that have built the solutions on the same theme. 

Not since the protocol is offering multi-chain so we can do all the swabs and transactions on different chains in one place which is not just convenient but also can be a cost-effective solution. 


### Maya mask (NFT collection)

So far I have never seen any decentralised finance protocol offering the [NFT](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-non-fungible-token-nft) and this is another unique offering that this platform is offering. Maya has got its NFT collections with the name of [MayaMasks](https://www.mayamask.com/) and its initially built on the ethereum [blockchain](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/blockchain) but later it is planned for migration to the Maya chain. AZTECChain is the native chain of Maya which is getting built for smart contracts and this transition will be done to Aztec.

They have got 1200 masks for each style (5 in total) excluding gold and the gold is something that can be called extraordinary. They have got some benefits added with these NFTs and with gold its great.

### NFT Minting

Minting for these nft is planned this month starting from 27 July and will end on 28th with the price range from 0.05 to 0.1 eth. This will be done on the Ethereum Blockchain as of now but later on we can expect the transition from the Ethereum to the Maya chain however that is planned for later so as of now we are not supposed to do anything in this case except go for the minting if interested. This way the Maya protocol is trying to add more value on the decentralised finance as well as on the NFT. NFT is also a growing segment of the crypto [market](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-market) and with this initiative, the protocol is trying to empower the crypto space from multiple dimensions.

### Opensea Market Place for Maya Masks

They have also got their NFTs listed on the [opensea](https://opensea.io/collection/mayamasks?tab=items) and there are quite a good number of nft articles listed with different pricing. They have released only 1689 Genesis Maya Masks in the market and the public mint has been ended and the remaining 4371 were taken out from the supply. This is why the supply, is too low and this can bring more value to the NFT holders in the form of value appreciation as well as additional benefits. 
The price I can see on this page is more than 0.11 ethereum whereas I can see that on the website it is going to be between 0.05 to 0.1 ETH. We can also see different offers in the market place which means there are good numbers of people who want to have Maya masks.

#### Reward for NFT holders

As already shared that there are 1689 Maya Masks and out of them 1669 are regular and 20 are gold masks. They will be distributing 10k tokens between both types so 25% will go straight to the gold masks holders and the remaining 75% will be going to regular. This way more benefits are provided to the gold mask holders and this is going to be significant in terms of value and overall holding. this calculation is for the Maya token and once another token AZTEC will be launched then also the distribution will follow the same calculation. After going through all these distribution calculations we can say that gold is the rarest collection and whoever owns it must be getting a significant reward. 

> There are 1,000,000 tokens ($MAYA/$AZTEC). 10,000 will be shared among 1689 Maya Masks.
2,500 tokens allocated to 20 Golden Masks (2,500/ 20 = 125 $MAYA).
7,500 tokens allocated to 1669 regular Masks (7,500/ 1669 = 4.49 $MAYA).

### Roadmap

Here is the snapshot for the road map and we have 5 milestones. It looks promising and another part that I want to highlight is that there will be daily staking rewards for the NFC holders in the form of CACAO tokens. As of now, we are not sure what price we are going to see for this token but if it is good then certainly something we can think about to own nft considering the benefits we will be getting later on. I expect that the token price is also going to be good because I can see a lot of action and hype about this protocol and since they are offering a bunch of things that are not available elsewhere so this can also drive more adoption of this protocol. There are projects that offer certain benefits to their NFT holders but this one is offering too much and I believe it might get difficult to own a NFT because of the offered benefits.

### Conclusion

We know what DeFi is and how it works but Maya protocol has taken it to another level by adding innovations. They offer multi chains, NFT and much more that makes it even better. Its going to be great for the community with the added flavour of NFT and probably this is the first-ever DeFi project  I have ever seen which offers NFT and a bunch of benefits for holding the NFT. Needless to say, gold mask holders are going to enjoy extraordinary rewards. Its worth keeping an eye on this project as the minting will start on 27th July so we have ample amount of time to research and decide if we want to be part of it. 

I understand that the initial study and research is an important part while choosing any project but now since we are left with one week for the minting start which I believe is a good amount of time to decide whether it is good for you or not. It is not financial advice anyway but after going through the details I feel like it is one of the projects that is worth considering and going through to see what they are planning to build for the community. undoubtedly safety is foremost here so we never need to worry about it and on top of that we'll be getting some additional benefits and better profitability as they have proven in the past through Thorchain.
