I've been looking at a few things in my life over the last couple of weeks, particularly in terms of how I'd like to restructure my business to reduce the stress it gives me. 

Then this morning I saw the Saturday Savers Club - Savers of the Week Anniversary Post -https://ecency.com/hive-167922/@eddie-earner/saturday-savers-club-savers-of-the-week-ending-5th-of-april-anniversary-post-with-edsmms-to-giveaway- 

It asked people for their savings tips (it's well worth a read !), and quite a few of those tips focused on setting goals. That's something I have always been really rubbish at, but it did make me stop and think about my Hive goals. It's all well and good having a short term plan, but I think it's worth periodically looking up from the daily routine of posting and voting and see what the longer term future could hold.

So here they are, or at least, here is where they are at right now. Plans should always be subject to review and change, and it's quite likely my long term goals will develop over time !

1. Hive is first and foremost an ecosystem of social platforms for me. It has replaced Facebook as my primary online social focus, and should continue to do so because I can't see it ever becoming as toxic as *that* place !

2. Hive is a place I can use for creative writing. It would be lovely to eventually publish a book or three, but in the meantime, Hive is a good way to practice and gain experience. I'd love to see more feedback on what I write, to help me improve my skills.
3. It's a personal goal to help and encourage new Hivers. I don't have the network of interested friends that enables me to onboard lots of people (I wish I did !), but I like putting time and HP into helping others to grow within Hive. It's also selfish, because it can help create a pool of friends who might occasionally upvote my posts  😁 
4. I plan to keep building my Hive account, focusing on HP, HBD, LEO and EDS. While I don't plan or want to power down and withdraw HIVE to fiat, it is there as a final emergency reserve if all else has been used.
5. I'm not getting any younger, have a few health issues which influence how long term I should think, and the timescales I should consider when expecting returns. The ideal is to get a return on investment within 5 years. Anything delivering a return that takes over 10 years should be automated to the point where it'll work if I am unable to put any activity into it. This also puts a timeframe around creative writing, as there are a few stories in my head that really want to be beaten into shape and told.
6. In line with the point above, my goal in the meantime is to have fun with my Hive friends and build my account up as much as I can. That way, when the time comes to shuffle off and exit stage left, I can leave it to my incredibly long-suffering and supportive wife as a nice parting gift  😀
