How you answer this question will likely be based upon whether or not you believe in the wisdom and benevolence of the politicians and technocrats who have made a mess of things in the last few decades. IMHO, the less control these clowns have over **anything**, the better off humanity will be.

I'm with you all the way! Unfortunately a lot of Governments feel threatened by Blockchain and Bitcoin/Altcoins. The good news is unless they shut down the Internet, they can only control it so much. More power to the people!
