I was introduced to Steemit by a buddy of mine and started being on Steemit only about a month ago. This is just more of a reflection and hopefully, something that newer Steemians will find useful in the long run. I joined initially with the objective of diversifying my investment. I had some bitcoin on the side, so I thought, why not invest in Steem? It looked promising, and seemed easy.

Boy, was I wrong. I have experience writing, but never experience blogging. I am usually a ghost on Facebook and this was my first time writing a post. 

However, after a month into it, I'm glad I've made that first step to join and it has been a great experience. Although I'm still a Minnow and have much much more to learn, let me share with you three things that could help you on this journey. 

# <center>**1. Find your niche**</center>

You'll find advice from some to write topics based on tags. While that works for some, I started of writing what I was good at. I am a teacher and a trainer for seven years. In that seven years, I have stories, experiences and techniques that others will find useful and so I started with that. 

I'm thankful that has worked out thus far and people are appreciative towards it. As such, start with your niche, bring your perspective into it. Yes, others may have written about a topic similar to yours, but your voice is unique. So start with your job, your life, your hobbies or even your struggles.

# <center>**2. Find a community**</center>

It can be lonely just writing away on your own. Over the course of a month, I've met great friends and communities that have helped me develop my creativity and my writing. Having a community also allows for them to look out for you in times of need. 

With a community, once you share similar interests, it may give you an idea on what other topics to work on. I'm in this for a long run and reading what others write gives me inspiration. Now of course, plagiarizing is not allowed, but as mentioned earlier, you bring your own unique voice into a topic. 

Another plus side with having a community is that it can come with collaborative opportunities too. For example, you may meet someone who needs an article translated or you may meet someone who needs you to be a judge of a competition. Those are great learning experiences that could help in one's Steemit journey in the future.

# <center>**3. Explore, Experiment, Endure**</center>

Initially I found it overwhelming to use Steemit, the bots, the tags and the best times to post. However, I found exploring and experimenting to be rather fun after some time. Nothing beats the fun of posting articles that appeals to a specific audience at specific times. Also, nothing beats finding the kind of article that fits your niche, be it in the form of a story, an argumentative article or poetry. 

If you find fun in exploring, experimenting or learning, I'm sure that you will definitely endure on this platform. Before you know it, I'm sure you will succeed on Steemit.
