## <center>Cuentos de Terraformación - Eden</center>


Un intenso olor a hierba recién cortada flotaba en el aire, aun a esta altura, y bajo la delgada capa de nieve que cubría la cima, los hierbajos recién brotados, desprendían su fresco aroma y manchaban de dispersos tachones verdes el blanco suelo del páramo. 

Daniel avanzó por el inclinado terreno, respirando el delicioso aire impoluto, de aquel mundo virgen, aun en evolución. La vegetación apenas empezaba a brotar, y el aire aun tenía ese particular aroma que confiere una cantidad aun excesiva, de oxígeno en la mezcla, apenas las plantas y bacterias aerobias habían empezado a cumplir su labor, de equilibrar la balanza entre O2 y CO2.

Se había quitado el casco respirador, sólo por el deseo de ser parte de aquel hermoso paisaje, libre de toda presencia humana, algo que sólo pocos podían decir haber hecho alguna vez, y probablemente nadie fuera de la división de Ingeniería Ambiental.

Estos eran los momentos que más disfrutaba de su trabajo. Los momentos que justificaban los años de soledad en una nave, la carencia de familia y el constante vagar de un mundo a otro, conversando sólo con las LUCILE. Cuando la absoluta soledad se justificaba en la belleza de un mundo completamente puro, libre de cualquier intervención humana.

PT-4328, no era un nombre que hiciera justicia a este lugar, el mayor acierto de su carrera, merecía un nombre más digno, tal vez el de una ninfa o una de las diosas olímpicas, como Afrodita o Artemisa, pero esa no era su decisión, sino de algún tonto comité de burócratas en Heracles. 

Sabía que en el antiguo vecindario de la Tierra había un Venus, otro nombre para Afrodita, pero no comparable con este mundo, aquel era un infierno, éste, en cambio, sería un paraíso, digno del nombre de la más hermosa de las diosas. Ahora que lo pensaba mejor, si no se siguiera la política de nombrar los planetas habitados, con nombres de deidades mitológicas, tal vez Edén, sería un nombre adecuado.

Recogió su casco del suelo, donde lo había dejado, y regresó a la nave. Después de retirarse el traje, entró a la cabina y activó los controles.

―Ya he terminado LUCILE, me retiro hasta dentro de doscientos años ―dijo por el comunicador.

―Gracias por su visita ingeniero ambiental Daniel Perdomo, cuando regrese, ya los niveles de oxigeno deben estar regulados ―dijo LUCILE

―Claro, nos vemos LUCILE ―dijo, a manera de despedida.

La nave levantó vuelo, dejando atrás la elevada montaña y su pico cubierto de nieve y hierba, cuando regresará ya estaría completamente cubierta de pasto y arbustos y al nivel del mar, los bosques empezarán a cubrir los continentes, entonces decidirá si ya los animales podían ser introducidos al planeta, el paso previo a la autorización de colonización.

## <center>Terraformation Tales - Eden</center>


An intense smell of freshly cut grass floated in the air, even at this height, and under the thin layer of snow that covered the summit, the freshly sprouted weeds gave off their fresh scent and stained the white moorland soil with scattered green studs. 

Daniel advanced through the inclined land, breathing the delicious unpolluted air of that virgin world, still in evolution. The vegetation was just beginning to sprout, and the air still had that particular aroma that confers an even excessive amount of oxygen in the mixture, as soon as the aerobic plants and bacteria had begun to fulfill their task of balancing the balance between O2 and CO2.

He had taken off his breathing helmet, just out of the desire to be part of that beautiful landscape, free of any human presence, something that only few could say they had ever done, and probably no one outside the Environmental Engineering division.

These were the moments he enjoyed most in his work. The moments that justified the years of solitude on a ship, the lack of family and the constant wandering from one world to another, talking only to the LUCILE. When absolute solitude was justified by the beauty of a completely pure world, free from any human intervention.

PT-4328, was not a name that did justice to this place, the greatest success of his career, he deserved a more worthy name, perhaps that of a nymph or one of the Olympic goddesses, like Aphrodite or Artemis, but that was not his decision, but that of some foolish committee of bureaucrats in Heracles. 

He knew that in the ancient neighborhood of Earth there was a Venus, another name for Aphrodite, but not comparable with this world; that one was a hell, this one, instead, would be a paradise, worthy of the name of the most beautiful of the goddesses. Now I thought better, if one did not follow the policy of naming the inhabited planets, with names of mythological deities, perhaps Eden, it would be a proper name.

He picked up his helmet from the ground, where he had left it, and returned to the ship. After removing his suit, he entered the cabin and activated the controls.

-I've finished LUCILE, I'm retiring for another two hundred years, - he said over the communicator.

-Thank you for your visit, environmental engineer Daniel Perdomo. When I return, the oxygen levels should be regulated, -said LUCILE

-Sure, see you LUCILE, -he said, by way of farewell.

The ship took flight, leaving behind the high mountain and its peak covered with snow and grass, when it will return it will already be completely covered with grass and bushes and at sea level, the forests will begin to cover the continents, then it will decide if the animals could already be introduced to the planet, the previous step to the authorization of colonization.
