This is the third video in a series of videos that I recorded a couple of years ago. This video series was about visiting interesting places in Michigan's Upper Peninsula and making a short video about them.

In this video, I pay a visit to the Delaware Mine site in Upper Michigan's "copper country" in the Keweenaw peninsula.  The Delaware mine was actually a group of copper mines that operated from 1847 to about 1887 when the high grade ore in the vein they were mining ran out.  This mine site is one of the oldest copper mines in the Upper Peninsula.

The site includes a walking trail that goes to the remains of the rock walls of several of the mine buildings that were built to support the mines there, as well as some equipment that is on display at the site.  The site also offers a self guided tour of the first level of the mine underground, with displays of the rock drills and other equipment that was used to mine the copper.  The site also has a gift shop.

The mine is located approximately 12 miles south and west of Copper Harbor, just off the main highway between Calumet and Copper Harbor.  There's a large sign on the highway at the road that goes to the mine.
