I just recently decided to try some of these freewrite ideas. You can either make a post or put it in the comment section of that certain post, which I do most of the time, today, however, today I decided to make a post to my blog about this subject.

First, let me say not all scars are visible, as some of mine are not, they are in my mind, so to speak. You ask how is this? I will tell you. I have scars that are not seen as I suffer from PTSD. That is a scar in your mind, I am a combat veteran and some things from my time in service are burned in my mind. I have triggers that bring up those scars and it is something I have to deal with every day. They happen in my sleep and even driving down the road. I have, over the last 10 years or so learned to deal with those things. I have to tell you it is not easy all the time. Those scars can bleed over to family life and that is the hard part for me because they do not, in many ways, understand those scars. As sometimes I think of myself as a burden to them because of my PTSD. We live life one day at a time.

The scars that are visible are the scars from all the knee surgeries I have had on the right knee, that knee is still not right as of now, still a work in progress after 5 surgeries. I know you would think they would have done it right by now, but not yet. There are scars, In other areas of my body, like in my neck and back, along with the other knee, from all the running, walking, jumping, and other things I did while in the military. Those things are not seen I guess, as I have not let the doctors cut on them because of the trouble I am having with my knee. 

Memorial Day has just passed and let's think of the soldiers that did not come back home from war, they paid the ultimate price, and the scars it left on all those families. The children growing up that might have only seen their father or mother in pictures. The wife or husband that lost the love of their life. 

We all have scars that tell the story of our lives. It might be from military service like mine and many others but it could be from an abusive relationship, a natural disaster, or other dramatic times in our lives. We all have a scar or scars that tell the story of our life and it is always a reminder of what was, or a lesson of something we did or should not have done. That is what makes us who we are and we all have a story to tell. What story does that scar or scars you have tell?
