I have been going over what type of insulation to use for the step van and how it was going to work over the long term of me living in the step van. I first thought about board insulation, which is basically foam board. I realized it would be kinda noisy as it would rub on the metal going down the road and the step van has enough noise moving down the road as it is, yes it would quiet some of that noise down but it would just add another noise. Then I thought about just fiberglass insulation and did some research and realized that that would not work out so well. I thought about sheep's wool but it is really pricey and would be several hundred dollars to get enough to insulate the step van. I then looked to Roxul insulation and thought it would work out ok, yes, I will have to put a vapor barrier up but Roxul Insulation is what a lot of people are using. It is a stone wool insulation and helps with sound deadening and is fire resistant. So that is what I will be using and is just a little more than fiberglass bat insulation.  So I had to get the shelves and the metal rack left in the step van out to get it ready. That is what is on the ground in the picture above. I should have gotten a before picture but just wanted to get it out and did not think about it. Sorry! Had some extended aluminum shelves over the wheel wells for the bread racks to sit on and had to drill the rivets out to get them out also. They extended over the wheel well about a foot on one side and would have been in the way of what I wanted to do over the wheel wells, not to fret they will be used somewhere else in the build, might be used as tabletops or for something like that later!  The ribs of the step van are 32 inches apart, with some a little more apart than that. I have some ideas on getting everything to work with the insulation as it is made for 16 inches on center studs. Have to get somewhat creative to get it done. The ribs are I bean type ribs and a 2x2 or a 2x4 will slide in the I beam part with a little persuasion. Not sure if that is the way to go. Got an idea and I will have to see if it will work. I will let you know if it does!  I have stuff stored in the step van that I will be using on my adventures so I will have to move it all out and store it somewhere else for the time being. There is also some other stuff I was looking at and was experimenting with for sound deadening and other things in there too. It has turned off to be cold here the last few days and I think winter has finally set in, so might that a little longer than expected, it will all work out in the end.
