Welcome to my blog today as I talk about polygamy as it affects people.

First off, polygamy is the practice of one man being married to more than one spouse. In this post, I will be dealing mainly on marrying more than one woman. This post is not to condemn or edify polygamy

The reason most men opt for polygamy is for them to keep their wives in check, according to them, when you marry another woman, the other ones will seat up. Some others engage in polygamy because of farming as polygamy is used as a tool to ensure economic and social stability of the family. This may be good for the men but what about the effects it leaves on the wives and children?

Effects of Polygamy
* Women married into polygamous families sometimes suffer from low self-esteem, phobias, anxiety, depression, hostility etc than women in monogamous families.

* Children from polygamous families are contentious and divided amongst themselves.

* Strife and envy among the wives and children

* The men may suffer from heart attacks and hypertension.

Some may be living happily in their polygamous homes, but the long term effect should be put into consideration.
