Bitcoin’s volatility has fallen to an all-time low – that in my mind, is a positive thing, given how high the level of its current “valuation plateau.”  Not that it will stay that way forever – as any day, it could go back to the crazy, whipsawing asset we’re used to…and likely will, given its currently low liquidity, amidst a world full of potentially game-changing catalysts.  Particularly, as we head into “Crypto Hedge Fund Launch Season”; i.e, the first of January, when the majority of new hedge funds start operating.  Look what happened last January, and consider how much more INSTITUTIONAL money is looking at the space today.

The reason being, that after a full year of trading above the “Hoffman Line” – i.e., the $100 billion market cap that attracts institutions to a new ASSET CLASS; Bitcoin has proven it’s not a “flash in the pan” - as this week, it’s hitting its TEN-YEAR anniversary.

Each day, headlines are growing more and more powerfully Bitcoin-bullish; and crypto-bullish in general - as whether you like altcoins or not, they too have maintained a $100 billion cumulative market cap for nearly a year’s time.  To that end, look at the news headlines from this week – each one, with the potential to reignite the next, inevitable Bitcoin bull market.

One of those items is the imminent launch of the PHYSICAL BITCOIN futures platform on the new Bakkt cryptocurrency exchange – operated by the Intercontinental Exchange, or ICE, one of the world’s largest mainstream commodity trading platforms.

They have already announced a December 12th launch date, pending SEC approval…which, we learned last week, could be announced as early as this week.  As could one of the nine Bitcoin ETFs the SEC has given a deadline of Monday, November 5th to decide on.  On that note, few expect any of the nine to be approved this week, though it’s certainly possible.  More likely, the SolidX/Van Eck PHYSICAL Bitcoin ETF will be approved first – potentially, before the current SEC deadline of December 29th – which can ultimately be deferred to a FINAL deadline of February 27th.

No one knows what the next upside catalyst will be – but don’t be surprised if Bakkt PHYSICAL Bitcoin futures are approved this week, yielding said catalyst.
