Good intentions don't make something valuable,  but go a long way towards building support for something with the potential to be.  To that end, there is nothing wrong with why Grin and Beam were founded  - as all three Mimblewimble coins, including soon-to-be launched MWC, had capitalism at their root.

The problem is,  that given how important Mimblewimble is to Bitcoin's future success, capitalism is not enough.  Mimblewimble IS the future of blockchain protocol, and WILL inevitably be incorporated into Bitcoin and numerous altcoins.  However,  coins that Bitcoin holders can rally around - that reward them for simply holding  - will hasten Mimblewimble's development,  enabling it to be incorporated as quickly as possible. 

Just like SegWit, Bitcoin (and countless altcoins) AFTER Mimblewimble will be FAR more valuable than before.  Thus, it is in every Bitcoin holders' (and many altcoin holders') best interest for Mimblewimble technology to receive maximum community support and capital investment.   And it doesn't hurt that MWC,  aside from having optimal investment traits (that could make it a grand slam for BTC holders) has a talented dev team that has ALREADY meaningfully supplemented existing Mimblewimble code, to improve and prepare it for inevitable global adoption. 

In Lead Dev Chris Gilliard's latest MUST READ article,  he Discusses  why MWC was created; i.e., to benefit  Bitcoin holders and accelerate the quality and quantity of Mimblewimblecode development.  Moreover, re-emphasizes his defense of the "philosophy "of altcoins, particularly those directly benefiting Bitcoin.  Few can make this claim, but MWC is an example of the perfect "investment," created solely to improve Bitcoin.

Bitcoin  "maximalism" is on its deathbed,  now that BTC dominance has averaged 50% for most of the past two years.  This is not a Bitcoin revolution, but a crypto revolution led by Bitcoin. There are too many applications,  and profit opportunities,  for any other scenario to unfold  - as in the DIGITAL AGE, crypto will not only dominate money and finance,  but other life-altering areas.

Regarding  Mimblewimble,  Chris cites the views of early cyberpunks, whose anarchistic views led to Bitcoin's creation.  The more privacy and fungibility the better  (though you don't have to be a cyberpunk to understand this) - and without Mimblewimble,  Bitcoin is vastly less private; fungible; and oh yeah, scalable, to the tune of 200%.

Frankly,  I don't care what a handful of coders thought in 2008; any more than counterproductive - and often,  nasty and spiteful  - Maximalists in 2019. To the contrary,  what I care about is what makes crypto better,  to maximize value and utility; not to mention,  the profits opportunities afforded by FREE airdrops like MWC's, that reward Bitcoin holders whilst making Bitcoin's future brighter.
